    Longevity Of Samuel Gawith Tins?

Oldest SG that I have are 7 years old. Never had a problem with any of them. However, throughout the years some arrived dented due to poor packaging from the retailer. The content of those tins was transferred to jars or mylar bags. If you are worried about the tin seals, I would suggest...

    All Day Smoke

Tastiest is very subjective. I would recommend C&D Yorktown, Peretti Cuban Mixture and D&R Rimboche SP to the list. Delicious blends, in my opinion, and almost always available. Watch City Slices is also highly recommended.

Soliciting Advice on My Next Pipe Purchase

I would look for Radice or Posella pipes. Have several of them and they smoke outstanding. Estate Cavicchi or Tonino would be in your price range as well.

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

Very nice lineup! The El Maestro Sierra is a favorite of mine.

    Oldest Whiskey Found

I would open it. It was made to be consumed not build shrines around it. If it was distilled well, it is safe to consume. Regarding quality, there are many factors that play a role: exposure to high temperature variations, humidity fluctuation, exposure to UV light and storage position (bottles...

    Your Top Five Burley Blends

Watch City Slices, Uhle's 00, LJ Peretti Cuban Mixture (a blend of many varietals and styles of tobacco, an excellent 'kitchen sink' blend), Vincent Manil La Volute and C&D Pegasus are some of my favorites.

    Duration of a Bowl

As other members mentioned it depends on the dryness, cadence of smoking and cut of the tobacco. I like pipes with chambers of 21-22 mm wide and 40-42 mm depth. Takes me 45 min to 75 min to finish a bowl.

    Colored Stems

That is very interesting and challenging to execute, I assume. Does it hold up well with the wood expansion and contraction caused by changes in humidity?

    Colored Stems

Personally, colored stems always have an appeal. I have red, amber, yellow and white ones. Most likely will add green and blue to the collection. A little color variation never hurts.

What Va Blends Should I Try/Cellar Next?

I would add C&D Yorktown to the list.

    Opinions on Semois

I only had Reserve du Patron and La Volute. Happened to like the last better.

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

Wine and tobacco share many similarities. Importance of place of origin, manipulation of the crop, blending, maturation. I find it to be very fascinating. Another excellent producer is Cayetano del Pino. Palo Cortado specialist. His wines are bottled and sold by Bodegas Lustau. Worthwhile to...

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

True words. Under appreciated as a category, unfortunately, these days. Unique wines with rich history. For full disclosure, I worked as a wine professional for many years and helped represent the category in NYC.

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

I totally agree, OzPiper. EMS produces the best old oloroso, in my opinion. BT and FC have exceptional palo cortados, a class of their own. Beautiful bodegas as well.

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

What Irish Whiskey do You Like or Recommend I Try?

Redbreast 12 years old Bushmills 16 years old Powers John’s Lane 12 years old Jameson’s 18 years old This would give you a spectrum, flavor wise, of high quality Irish whiskey. As some of the bottles can be a bit pricey, my suggestion would be to try them at a bar first before committing to a...

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

Gonzales Byass’ Lepanto is distinctive in the sense that it is the most not Brandy de Jerez produced with grape distillate of their own production. Double distilled in pot stills on site. The other Brandy the Jerez producers buy their unaged grape brandies and mature them in their own casks and...

    Which Brandy or Cognac?

I am not familiar with the Costco brandy or whisky. However, other Spanish brandies of high quality would be: El Maestro Sierra, Bodegas Tradicion and Fernando de Castilla. As for Cognac: Dudognon, Jean Fillioux and Paul Giraud. These products might be a little hard to find, depending on where...
