    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I still have some hopes, it's in a jar on the shelf. As so many others before me have noted, many blends seem to be better with some time on the shelf after a new airing has occurred. The ingredients really do seem like it should click for me at some point. And I don't know if my palate has gone...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Followed by Aberrant in a Sherlock Holmes smooth Deerstalker. I’m finding with this blend, the larger chamber, the better. This was the best so far. Still exploring… but I’ll see what I have that’s larger and give it a go. I might even remember to share whatever I think I learned 😁

I'm also hoping / expecting it to be a little different after it has breathed a little. Another thread had many in agreement that C&D's generally benefit from such.

Wisconsin Sales Tax on Tobacco Starting Jan. 1, 2025

Over a decade ago I could see this (and other types of changes) coming with the influx of a certain mind-set flooding into Colorado and knew it was going to be changing for the worse - it did, and very quickly. So despite my love for the natural aspect of the state, I chose to move away from "that".

To Drink or not to Drink?

Never heard of that before either, but looking into it I think I'd like to sample it sometime. Thanks for the "referral".

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

This one sounded intriguing based on the ingredients. The aroma was very nice. However, it doesn't provide a whole lot... It burns wonderfully but is rather average, great for a mindless smoke and I can grab it instead of Carter Hall for example when I'm in that mood. For that reason, I jarred...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I have smoked a couple of tins fresh 1-2 years ago, and my impression would have been the same. Each smoke seemed to provide something a little different, varying gently and seemingly influenced by what I'd eaten or drank or simply whatever was different in the environment from day to day. I...

    What are You Reading Now?

Read a few of them through our library and both wife and I enjoyed them. Haven't accessed them all though...

    What are You Reading Now?

The Indoctrinated Brain: "written by Michael Nehls, MD, PhD, and Naomi Wolf, is a thought-provoking book that exposes the subtle yet insidious ways in which our brains are being manipulated and controlled. The authors argue that a global attack on mental freedom is underway, and that our...

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

Derry Rustic B60, 2016 There was one very bright spot in machine rustication during the Late Dublin era: the first release of “Killer B” Derry Rustic in 2016. It was an inspired move at K&P, clearing out the remarkable B shapes inventory by outfitting the bowls in army mounts with striated...

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

From Peterson Pipe Notes: “Pineapple” Rustication on a Founder’s Edition, 2015 POY So here it is: just about as low as it could go, a distinct aesthetic decline from hand to machine rustication. This POY and the ones that followed it in 2017 and 2018 used the same process. No wonder the...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Today I rose early enough to watch the sunrise with coffee and a pipe. Last night I had tried a bowl of my Robert Lewis 123, but it didn't stay lit well and simply left me unappeased and frustrated... Just one of those times. So this morning I grabbed a jar with some remaining Montgomery...

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

I do prefer it over this "pineapple" style as you referred it. But I've got a couple of SH with a completely different rustication that I like best. 1980's? Not at home to take a pic...........

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

While I'm a Pete fan, this rustication is at the lowest of my appreciation level for all their finishes. Older rustication was MUCH more pleasing to the eye. The only redeeming quality is that it's appropriate in the hand to the tactile receptors........
