Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking the last of my open stash of year 2004 Edgeworth Slices in a straight sandblasted black billiard 2013 PSF POY Kaywoodie with an amber colored tapered lucite stem. Decided to jar the rest of the four ounce tin for later use. Besides, I have a very suitable replacement for the Slices. Coffee from a freshly opened bag of Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink.

Today I rose early enough to watch the sunrise with coffee and a pipe. Last night I had tried a bowl of my Robert Lewis 123, but it didn't stay lit well and simply left me unappeased and frustrated... Just one of those times.

So this morning I grabbed a jar with some remaining Montgomery, which I got from Hoosier a while back - and it is from 2018. Enjoyed it in a Peterson 313 smooth with vulcanite P-lip. I'm pleased to say that one small bowl left a lingering sweetness on the palate that has now lasted through both breakfast and lunch. Hoping I have time this evening to refresh that delicious aftertaste.

Is that a Mark Twain cob? The Twain is on my short list.
Yes it’s a bent Mark Twain and I think it’s one of my favorites. It just has everything going for it. The chamber is narrow enough to make the blends sing and the chamber walls are thick enough. One of the things that’s important to me is the shank bowl junction… this one is right up against the hardwood plug and there’s no room for bits to get stuck down in there. It’s important that I don’t have a bunch of space under the shank inside the bowl. My only complaint is that sometimes the Twain’s chip along the top edge of the bowl but it adds character. I highly recommend the Twain.

I wasn’t sure because of the angle of the photo, but the wide rim gave it away. It is at the upper limit of what I want to spend on a cob, but it sounds like it has everything I want. It will most likely be included with my next TAD order.

Mid-afternoon smoke of a bowl of 2011-era OJK in a 1936 171 Bruyere billiard... a splendid smoke.
