    Best Bulk Red Virginia?

X2 on this. I was initially turned off by the bag note, but it is a beautiful smoke.

    Worst Tasting Blends Ever

I've never had Condor, but I hear good things about it. My general impression is that it is a more reasonable Lakeland. I like Ennerdale OK--but I just wouldn't recommend it to someone new to Lakelands.

Jim's STC War Horse Bar and War Horse Green Reviews.

I'm definitely putting these on my to-get list.

    Worst Tasting Blends Ever

Personally, I'd start of with something milder like Dark Flake Scented, and not go straight for Ennerdale. The Dark Flake is a better flake to me to begin with (with a huge nicotine kick), and it has a milder topping to boot. Trust me, if you don't like Lakelands, it will be PLENTY strong...

Initial Reviews: Sutliff Edgeworth Match,Amphora,Aperatif,SG Chocolate Flake

Thanks for the reviews! I was on the ropes about which Dunhill to try next, Aperatif or MM965. Your review fits in with many others that say Aperatif is a decent blend, but just can't quite match 965. It's a pity because I love the tin art on Aperatif. I'll order 965 first, and see if I get...

    Ennerdale vs Brown Flake Scented

It's funny: Ennerdale's tin note is absolutely overpowering to me, but I don't taste it much during the smoke, and the beautiful tobacco shines through quite nicely. It seems I and the others who enjoy this genre have a similar experience, while those who dislike it are overwhelmed. That said...

    Sutliff - 504C "Aromatic English"

Thanks for the suggestions! I do like the genre. I had considered HGL as a possibility, but figured the shared names was the tip off. (Haven't actually tried HGL, just read the description and reviews.)

    Sutliff - 504C "Aromatic English"

I have a local B&M that has a house blend called “Aromatic English,” and it’s one of the most pleasing aromatics I’ve ever smoked. I was assuming it was a repackaged Sutliff, as two of the B&M aromatic offerings are “Aromatic English” and “Sweet Virginia”, and Sutliff offers two bulk blends by...

    H. Sutliff - Mixture #79

Interesting. I've enjoyed the Sutliff aromatics I've purchased, but that's just me.

    FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

Yeah, I know generally the advice here is, "Buy, buy, buy!" but the difference here is when you are motivated to buy something you wouldn't normally have an interest in, you're likely being pushed in the wrong direction. If one of your favorite blends was post 2007, I'd say go wild buying it up...

    FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

In retrospect, I always regret buying based on missing out--not just in regards to tobacco, but in general. It seems like a poor motivator, though many would disagree with me.

    Latakia versus Oriental.

I think some people may be thinking of a different body odor than mawnansmiff is referencing. Unfortunately, the world of body odors is quite varied in its heinousness, and there is a particular musty, almost smoky sort of BO that latakia might smell like. It is an unflattering comparison to be...

What Is Your Favorite C&D Blend

Billy Budd is a great cigar-leaf blend. Their classic "Autumn Evening" is another must-try aromatic, if that's your thing. I was actually quite surprised at Billy Budd. I like it more than I expected because the latakia is a much more minor player than I thought it would be. It melds perfectly...

I really dislike mushrooms, so I'll probably stay away from this one as well.

    H. Sutliff - Mixture #79

Haha, thanks for the source, Isaac! I actually have read The Idiot and The Double as well--just not during that particular summer. They are all great reads. Crime and Punishment is a little more streamlined than The Brothers Karamazov, for sure. I can hear a modern publisher saying, "We'll...

    Worst Tasting Blends Ever

Wow. Reading the Holly Non Plus reviews is enough to genuinely scare me off. Won't be purchasing that any time soon.

    H. Sutliff - Mixture #79

To be clear, #79 hasn't moved into my top ten or anything like that; my overall opinion is that it is an average aromatic than you may or may not like. I liked it fine, and there is some sort of nostalgia to it because I think I smelled it as a child. It just smells old. Good to see my review...

    odyssey

That's funny, I skip all the reviews except pipestud and JimInks too! There may be one or two other reviewers I trust, but half of them are people who will go give Nightcap 1 star and say, "I hate anything that has latakia in it." It's a bit like reviewing a red wine and, after giving it one...

    Worst Tasting Blends Ever

Loving this thread. Double sold! Kicking myself that I didn't put this in my latest order. This is a good reminder. I need to order some. I doubt it will knock the Gawith twists off of my top ten, but I love the high-nic blends. It doesn't sound like it has the beautiful flavor profile of...
