***What Are You Smoking, January 2023?***

I do like a clay myself, I have several. Great for trying out new blends. I used to keep a dedicated clay inside each of my Kilner jarred blends and only smoked each with it's respective blend. I still have a clay that's about 100 years old and about 2ft long still with it's original box (I'll...

Well the kids are away with there mum for a couple of nights, so I have decided to park myself at the kitchen table and enjoy some Peterson's Signature Flake in da house. The blend is wrapped in a short Duncan pot with a saddle stem with some Necafé Gold Blend to accompany. Happy 2023 everyone!

    Drying the Tobacco?

Can ask Sablebrush...how do you dry your tobacco before smoking? I know some people microwave their blends others allow it to air dry a little before smoking. Cheers.

    Putting Shine to Briar

Im not a fan of super shiny pipes, to me they feel plasticky. I usually sand them back with a very fine grit paper to the raw briar and add a little nose oil. A quick rub over with a cloth and I'm good to go. Nose oil is great for stems too btw. Happy buffing!

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

I clench beyond my pearly whites. Not sure if I could lip-only grip the pipe, i'd probably look like a slobbering bloodhound if I did. I only clench on the right side of my mouth, I did try the left but my jaw freaks out and starts bouncing around emptying said pipe all over my face and lap (a...

What Have You Cellared the Longest?

My oldest cellared acquisitions are 10 tins of HH Vintage Syrian from 2014, probably past it's best by now and sadly not in my rotation anymore as I've grown out of latakia. My second are three 500g bags of RDF from 2015, I look forward to opening those in the not too distant future.
