We were in Brooklyn visiting relatives for the holidays and decided not to bring any vials with us from my Christmas present from Susan, the 2022 Flaviar Advent Calendar, “The Depths of Whiskey,” so we have some catching up to do. Having vial #9 to start off the New Year.

I wanted to get the new thread started before too much time passed after midnight and didn’t include any tasting notes.

The nose on #9 is delicate. Apple on the nose; the green apple reminds Susan of sake. Not too complex. Some pepper on the nose.

Drinking Canadian college girl whiskey, aka Crown Royal. If this stuff was any more inoffensively bland and stereotypically Canadian it would say "sorry" on the label.

I like it though, because it's the only whiskey my wife will drink without complaining and it mixes ok with coke zero.

We cracked open the Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 BRT - 02, after having a pour of the BRT - 01 (which we both loved ) last night. The 02 is a completely different experience. Deeper, darker, and more rich fruit notes dominate this one, with baking spices and a dark chocolate note on the finish. I’m leaning more toward the 02 being my favorite, but both are outstanding bottles that will be sure to please bourbon fans.

If you want a diet soda that has a regular soda flavor, try the Zero line by either coke or Pepsi. Dr. Pepper has a Zero line too.
