    Pipe Lighter Recommendations

Thank you all for your help! An update: I bought a can of Vector butane as a alternative to the can of Lucienne I have had for awhile. Lo and behold it has breathed new life into all of my lighters! I may invest in a high dollar lighter, but it won’t be today. ??

    Pipe Lighter Recommendations

Mine calls for butane, as does my zippo side-flame insert. It occurs to me I’m filling them both from the same can of Lucienne butane. I wonder if that could be the source of my problem. I may try some different butane and go from there.

    Pipe Lighter Recommendations

Please tell me there’s something out there for maybe <$30 that lights as reliably as a $2 bic. I’m 0 for 2 so far - zippo side insert and a $12 Promise side flame, each just north of worthless.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Capping off this mild TN evening with some Penzance given to me by a Bay Area friend and in my latest pipe purchase, a Peterson System 306. Dram of Highland Park 12 to boot. I took a pic, but it keeps loading sideways lol. Oh well

Am I Late to the Party?

I’m most of the way through a tin of Early Morning Pipe. ?? I like it, but it is a little lighter than I prefer. I have it sometimes now as a second bowl after something more substantial, for those times I’m just not ready to be finished smoking.

Am I Late to the Party?

My initial source was my phone app, which uses dictionary.com. I cross-checked with Mirriam-Webster: their definition is the same, only shorter. Man, I wish it didn’t have to be a hobby. If smoking a pipe paid a manageable salary, I’d turn pro in a heartbeat! Haha

Am I Late to the Party?

Your comment about the word ‘hobby’ made me curious. I went to my dictionary, and it defines a hobby as ‘an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation.’ I can’t speak for anyone else, but that fits my pipe smoking word for word.

Am I Late to the Party?

AAMOF, I just finished my first tin of Nightcap. ?? I guess with its high nic content, I noticed early on if I have it before bed (as the name implies), I have CRAZY and vivid dreams. Confession time: knowing that, sometimes I’ve been doing it intentionally for that very reason. Lol

Sutliff: Cringle Flake 2020 is Out

Word. Who knew pipe smoking lent itself to striking like a cobra?! Lol

Am I Late to the Party?

Got Artisan’s blend in the mail this morning. Having my second bowl now. Right up my alley, so thank you. At the risk of speaking contrary to my original point, with so many options out there right now, I can say I would never have chosen this tin out of a list. Much obliged for turning me on to...

Sutliff: Cringle Flake 2020 is Out

Scanning this thread, I feel like I know where all the toilet paper went back in April.

    Blend List Proportions

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) When companies/distributors list the types of tobacco in a blend, do they list them in descending order, or is the order arbitrary? Can they leave things out?

Real, not match. McClelland No. 2030, No. 2040, and No. 2050, of those 2050 being the best imo. They also had three I didn’t buy: 615, three cherry, and Eastern Carolina Ribbon.

Am I Late to the Party?

Thank you for sharing your take on those blends. I keep telling myself those bygone blends were probably not as profoundly amazing as I (and the Internet) have made them out to be. In fact, I found a few bulk McClelland blends at a shop in town earlier this week, and I got a couple ounces of...

Am I Late to the Party?

Awesome! Thank you for the leads on what to try next. Pandemic spending is tricky, but I will steadily whittle away at my ever expanding wish list.

Am I Late to the Party?

Haha, too late! After my initial basket pipe purchase, my second one was a Peterson Aran B10. I’m eight pipes deep now, and it’s still my favorite. Puns aside, your Bre’r Rabbit & the Briar Patch ploy alone put Artisan’s Blend in my cart. ;) Cheers!

Am I Late to the Party?

Thank you much! Coincidentally, my dad told me my great grandfather kept a can of Sir Walter Raleigh on his mantel and smoked it daily. It’s in my latest p&c order. I’m pumped to try it.

Am I Late to the Party?

I have noticed I tend to favor Latakia blends, for one. I really like plum pudding. I like nightcap, but I realized smoking it in the evening it gives me crazy dreams (I confess sometimes now I’ll smoke it before bed for that very reason lol). Changing styles, I didn’t like Elizabethan mixture...
