I Hope in 2021, I Will... (Pipe Related)

I hope to: a. Pick up my first Castello b. Finally get my hands on some Ennerdale. c. Hone my smoking technique so that I can finally taste the nuances in aromatics. d. Meet a forum member or three.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Having some Ken Byron Festivus Pudding in a MM General Cob. Just got this tobacco today after ordering it almost three weeks ago. The USPS set a household delivery record on this one, but fortunately it's the only shipment this holiday season with which I have experienced a major delay...

    Thank you, Ashdigger!

Ash is the MAN! He offered to send me some aged St. James Flake after I posted my review of fresh a while back, and ended up sending something like 20 samples, along with a pipe or three in which to smoke them. Amazing! He's the reason I'm now a big fan of those ropes and twists, especially...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Important update: I'm still here. Got a little bit of a nic buzz but not too bad. And War Horse Bar is a very tasty smoke, perfect for the times I want something strong and sweet!

    First Pipe of the Day?

Depends on the day. If I had my druthers, 10:30 AM or so right after breakfast and coffee. Generally though, mid-afternoon, or on busy days, in the evening when we walk the dogs.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Just had a bowl of Rouxgaroux in a Geppetto bent dublin that I recently purchased from @Jwebb90. Now embarking on a brave mission. A few weeks ago, I placed an online order, and out of curiosity, threw in a tin of War Horse Bar. I put in in a jar as soon as I got it, as I just HAD to check...

    Recommendation: Scottish Mixtures

Rattray's Red Rapparee is pretty good stuff. And there's a match blend of MM 965 that is tasty as well, and a good value in bulk.

    Hello Everyone

Not that I've found. Anthony's Cigar on Oracle and Magee is the best selection I've found, and that's not saying much. Their prices are so-so. Most places in town that advertise pipe tobacco, such as The Crescent downtown, are just selling RYO cheap tobacco (and not the D and R variety!)...

    Hello Everyone

Welcome to the forums from a fellow Tucsonan! A quick google search indicates you are a professor at the U of A. I just finished a Doctorate from your fine institution. There's a few of us on here from town. Once this Covid thing is a little more under control I'd say a gathering is in order.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Having a bowl of PS LNF in a bones bent brandy while on a short hike. Watching the sunset from 700 ft above the Tucson Valley with my bestie beastie.

The First Blend That Got You Into Pipe Smoking

Rich’s is mostly responsible for my teenage romanticization of pipe and cigar smoking. I used to spend a lot of time downtown and would walk past the shop on Alder St(?) and the smells coming out were AMAZING!

    The (Un)Official Secret Santa 2020!

So, just 30 minutes ago I went to check the mail. There was a package in one of the lockers, and I thought “well, I didn’t order anything. Perhaps my wife did.” As soon as I got the package out I recognized the return address. My Secret Santa recipient gifted me back! And before he had even...

    Wife Baked This For Me!

I made one myself last night. Used a recipe from Tujague's in the French Quarter. We'll be tearing into it in the next hour. Of all the pies in the world, pecan is the best (objective fact)!

    The (Un)Official Secret Santa 2020!

I just want to say that while I have had an awesome day spending a quiet Christmas with the wife and dogs, nothing has put me in the Christmas spirit quite like reading this thread today and seeing the generosity of forum members. You all rock! Merry Christmas everyone!

    White Christmas?

Sierra Vista is a couple thousand feet higher than Tucson (approx. 4500 vs 2500), so it probably happens there more often than Tucson, but still pretty seldom. But yes, up in the mountains there's probably a little snow left on northern aspects from our last winter storm. As for where you...

    White Christmas?

Nope. Not here in Tucson (surprise, surprise!). Actually, it has happened four times here since they began keeping records in the late 1800s. The most recent was 1987, so 33 years ago. It's supposed to be 69 and partly cloudy. A couple of years ago it was 75 and we ate our Christmas Dinner...
