    James Webb Space Telescope

@brian64 I'm glad you enjoyed the information I posted, and regard it in a positive context. The purpose of the posts was, after all, to provide information and context---less, apparently, for yourself, than for perhaps any other members who may not have noticed that behind the guise of...

    James Webb Space Telescope

LaViolette: "My wife was with me---she's sensitive to energies and she could feel this energy. She used a pendulum for measuring the amount of energy and you could see... some of the larger rocks .... would give stronger reading with the pendulum."

    James Webb Space Telescope

Karam is in Europe and hopefully sleeping a restful sleep, but I think he'll have a good chuckle when he wakes up. I'm not sure what you mean by your question. Natural selection obviously applies to a specific swathe of what falls under the rather broad term "biology." Certain features of...

    James Webb Space Telescope

Their math is just math without consideration for biology. Who told them that mutational rates or speciation rates were constant? Or that rates of mutations in genes was a purely probabilistic calculation based on the number of bases? It only sounds like it makes sense. What is sounds like to...

I meant "now" part of the echo chamber. Not "not". I have to believe these people make a living with book sales and talking gigs at conventions.

I hope I can make this post "before the lock." Paul Alex LaViolette, fired in 1999 from the US Patent Office [LINK]. Holds a patent for a "Machine for slowing the flow of time and extending life" [LINK]. His work appears [HERE] on a website with which he's affiliated, much of which isn't...

    James Webb Space Telescope

I'm watching the video as I type. As a scientist who practices in the domains being discussed, I'd like to offer my profession opinion. The people being interviewed on this video know just enough about what they're discussing to give the appearance of being experts, but it is embarrassingly...

    Science of Plume/Bloom/Crystals on Tobacco

I'll send a tin of Esoterica to the first person that posts a link to peer-reviewed and/or published research (book) that scientifically identifies "plume/bloom/crystals" on pipe tobacco.

    Science of Plume/Bloom/Crystals on Tobacco

I think if we can admit that aging tobacco wasn't even "a thing" until recently, it makes the idea of research into weird things growing on old tobacco somewhat of a moot point.

    Science of Plume/Bloom/Crystals on Tobacco

Could be. But that begs the question why we don't see such 'growths' in bags of minimally processed tobaccos like the roll-your-own types such as Gambler. But it certainly could be.

    Science of Plume/Bloom/Crystals on Tobacco

I think this is the point I'm attempting to make. This isn't the science of "stuff growing on your tobacco" because it's not stuff growing on your tobacco. It's stuff the blender added to the tobacco that finnicky smokers worry might be contamination. I'm sure there are books and libraries...

    Science of Plume/Bloom/Crystals on Tobacco

I don't think there exists any scientific literature on the matter because there hasn't been a real need for it. The worries of concerned consumers don't enter into the equation until something affects the bottom line. Pipe tobacco manufacturers put chemicals onto the leaf to avoid spoilage in...

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Well, I'll have to eat my words. The other boxed lot has just shown up on eBay for quite a bit of money per pipe. I don't think they'll sell at those prices but one never knows.

Possible Old Ben Wade Leeds Second “C. Smith”

May we see a photo of the whole pipe (to discern the shape) and a shake number, if present? Thanks

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

It's a time capsule. Once the bug bites you, there's no turning back. Nothing else quite scratches the itch.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

The photos from the auctioneer were blurry so there are a few guesses as to what exactly was in the lot, but once I get hold of them I'll absolutely photograph them. I don't plan on splitting them up either, as they were apparently found that was at the shuttered tobacconist. I need to track...

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Oh they went high---around £500 or thereabouts for each cased individual pipe. I don't think a reseller will see much margin above that. I prioritized my bids long beforehand. The Imperial ITC was rare and yet did not garner the attention that the other brands did, so it was a below-average...

    Rich Tobaccos

American or German Virginias will not satisfy, McClelland being the only exception. What you need are British-made tobaccos manufactured from predominantly African-sourced Virginias. I no longer enjoy thin Virginias without body, except perhaps in the very early morning, so I smoke...

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

At the prices they went for, I'd say there isn't much margin for resale. These seemed to be collectors bidding collector prices. I can tell you, for my part, that the ones I managed to win won't be going to eBay.... at least not for a few decades, if I can help it.
