    Yeah but the discussion seems to have run on. I enjoy peeking in on this thread to see English eBay pipe finds. The posts with the cyanoacrylate glues are great, and I reckon more appropriate to the repair sub forum. Which is what it was made for.

    Don't think so. Those are production lot numbers, not dates, as far as I know. Edit -- not to mention the fact that this tobacco didn't exist 29 years ago.

    To my eye it looks like an H&A in the diamond. The difficulty in this case is that Comoy made pipes for tobacconists and fancy goods merchants, as well as department stores and other businesses. For all we know H&A may have been a shoemaker.

    Usually you need to eat aflatoxin for it to have an effect. For my part, what I would fear most is a pulmonary mycosis---allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis or pulmonary invasive fungal infection in immune suppressed patients--from inhaled spores.

    Looks like mold. Salts and things would be broadly distributed. This is a localized growth. Though it looks like it dried to the point that the Penicillium sporulated (the white stuff on your fingers). I'd toss it out to be safe.

    Those are crystals. Not all crystals have obvious macroscopic symmetry, especially in complex mixtures of various salts. Somewhere on another thread I posted microscopic images of these salts specks growing in my Acadian Gold, which is a Perique processed Virginia.
