    Any Exotic Pet Owners Here?

I once rescued two baby squirrels that some schoolboys were about to mistreat. I'm not sure why, but I think they might have fallen out of the nest, and mamma was probably frightened away by the young boys. I fed those squirrels, every two hours with baby formula mixed with ground walnuts...

    Any Exotic Pet Owners Here?

At one time, "exotic" animals could be sold, bought, and kept, in New York City. This was back in the late-1950's into the early '60s...then the laws changed. When I was still in grade-school, I resolutely decided I just had to have a pet monkey. No ifs, ands, or buts. I had all the details...

    Straight Grain: Better Heat Transfer/Conduction

Curious about the rune scrip that follows your name. Pardon my presumption, but would you provide the translation?

    Changing Pipes

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....AFTER cleaning out the stale pipe.....jam a juicy, oily, chunk of fresh orange peel into the bowl, and let it sit there for a few days. Let the oily rind face the bowl walls. Your pipe will be refreshed and ready to smoke...the citrus oils will...

    Nording Pipe Transformation

I applaud the cojones it took to sand away, and change what you disliked. You threw the dice and gambled for the best outcome. Glad you got what you wanted.

    I abstain.

    Thoughts on This Pipe

Very nice.... though not my favorite shape. However, that shank-to-stem junction, and vintage, Lorenzo-ish styling on the asymmetric saddle stem is, imo, what makes the pipe. The shaping of the shank- as it blends into, and matches the lines on the stem in one long sweep ...is beautiful...

    Burley Based Blends Suggestion

JOHN PATTON'S ...."STORM FRONT" Superlatives are always used when describing this 'non plus ultra' mixture of Burley tobaccos. The last time I smoked it, I bought a few ounces (bulk) from 4Noggins. Very nice mixture, and I'll probably reorder it again, soon. Real soon.

    DIY Blending

Nice to read that you have concocted some homemade mixtures that you enjoy smoking. Continued success! I also do some of my own mixing. I usually start with a base-blend, mixed by a professional and then add some other tobaccos or other commercially available blends to the original base...

Very sad. Truly, this exile, is a vale of tears. Can you translate the rune script? Just curious.....

    Pipe Smell

Those old, OTC aromatics that were faithfully smoked by most codgers back in grandpa's day usually leave behind better memories than their actual aromatic realities. Our easily fooled, imaginations, fill in all the rest. I will bet that if you could somehow sniff grandpa's pipes right after he...

    Filter Pipes

I have both kinds, with a filter and no filter. Either way, makes no smoking difference to me....aside from the extra expense of buying and changing filters. Additionally, changing out used up filters also means twisting and taking out the stem more often. That's a demerit in my book. One...

Why Am I Now Required To Manually Log In?

It happens to me also, on most of the pipe smokers forums. It's a PITA.

    What Are Your Largest Pipes.

I'd post some photos....but I don't know how. It's a custom-made (briar) slightly tilted, rusticated, magnum Dublin with a heel. (It looks like an old, vintage Charatan shape). Tobacco chamber: 2-1/4" deep by 1" diameter, across the top. Bowl width at top: 2-7/8" diameter. OAL: 9-1/2" (25...

    Another Noob

Have a great time learning about the art of pipe smoking, and be part of the rare-breed. Best advice I could offer: ********************************** Buy pipe tobacco sample-size packets from the major tobacco retailers. Buy some Aromatics some English, and other offerings....or.... buy...
