Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

While I agree with you 100%, I do think there's a little more to it than that. Several factors have contributed to the decline of brit wood collecting. There are fewer brit pipes worth collecting on the market. Given that the heyday of production ended at the very latest in early 1960's and for...

    Yet Another Kaywoodie Dating Question

I have 87 listed as "Dark Finish" in my four digit prefix list. I don't remember the prefix for Miami but will look when I get home. 47 is the only one that's burned into my subconscious (Drinkless Thorn Screw in with black vulcanite) since that's what constitutes the bulk of my collection.

1935-39 would be a safe bet. Nice pipe, it should clean up very well.

    Yet Another Kaywoodie Dating Question

    Art Of Galvanoplasty

While I don’t know anything about galvanoplasty, I have made several steel roses. I given away most of them, but I’ve got this one left. I’ve always just left them to naturally patina or coated them in beeswax, linseed oil, and turpentine and burnt it on with a torch.

The Shamrock line did exist in the 50's but production was very low and they were unbanded. That's not to say that absolutely no banded shamrocks exist from the 50's, there was likely a transition in 1950 where some of the banded pipes were still being produced and new COM's were being used, but...

Carrying Pipes Back In The Day

Most shirts had pockets, most men wore a jacket or coat of some kind. And those that didn't generally wore overalls or coveralls. Tee-shirts weren't a thing, and when they were they typically only worn by members of the military or athletes. As @sablebrush52 said, prior to WWII cased pipes were...

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Yeah, the 9BC is the other one I was referencing. There are more than a few shapes that only show up in the Shamrock line. The Shamrock line (nickle banded) was made for Roger’s Imports and only ran from about 1936-49. The unbanded shamrocks were mostly for the euro market and were made in the...
