Need help with tobacco brand early 1970s

Possibly Middleton's Cherry Blend or Paladin Black Cherry, but there were many cherry blends back then.

Caminetto Ascorti Radice First Period Excellence Flame

Here's a quick snapshot of my Caminettos. All of mine are in the "Business" finish.

    New from Portugal with Questions

It sounds like the alcohol caused some oxidation to appear. You can use some very fine sanding pads or even a little toothpaste to remove the spots. Olive oil can be applied and buffed off with a soft cloth. Keep in mind that the oil can become rancid after a while so use it sparingly. Your...

I will try, but it may take a while.

Caminetto Ascorti Radice First Period Excellence Flame

A very beautiful pipe and the New Dear finish is one of the better ones I have seen. In general, I preferred the "Business" finish. I have two "gold moustache" era pipes with the Tinderbox stamp I purchased in the 70s and two others I got as estates, one is an AR stamped pipe. They are all...

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

Strange to think I have had 24 of the blends on these few pages!

    Corona Old Boy? Worth it?

This is very true. I had more than one lighter get clogged when using Ronson fuel. I find that Colibri works well, except for some reason one lighter works better with Xikar's high altitude formula.

    Corona Old Boy? Worth it?

Sorry to hear that. Was that the actual Zippo brand insert?

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

I would say there is a distinction between number of blends available and number available to an individual. In the 70s, I could go into a newsstand or drug store and probably find a dozen or more blends. In a well-stocked tobacconist, probably 40 or 50 blends. I suspect that there were...

    Corona Old Boy? Worth it?

The IM Corona Old Boy is worth it. I have three and the current production is a huge improvement over what they were 20 years ago. The new Zippo brand butane insert is pretty good but no better in the wind.

    Give Advice On Computer Printers

I have had good luck with Canon and Ricoh printers. Amazon has a Canon laser printer for $89. Of course, a replacement cartridge costs more than the machine itself.

Any Tips for Jazzing up Scrambled Eggs Guys?

For me the simplest way is to put a few drops of Worcestershire sauce in with the eggs and a splash of milk before scrambling them. Also try duck eggs for a richer flavor.

Tony Bennett Dies aged 96 😔

Someone once asked him if he ever got tired of singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and he snapped back "Do you ever get tired of making love?"

    Zippo Butane Pipe Lighter Insert

Now that Zippo is offering their own butane insert specifically for pipes, I decided to try one and share my experience with it. I mostly smoke in the living room or my home office and use a Corona Old Boy or Xikar, but I have a Zippo with the pipe insert for outdoors. Since I don't use it...

    Someone Else's Underwear

Don't know if it was a laundry mix-up or what but I do recall seeing a man hitchhiking on I5 in Oregon wearing a woman's dress and apparently nothing else. He was barefoot and displaying considerable chest hair instead of decolletage. I don't know if he ever got a ride, but I imagine it was a...

    Bulging tins

In all likelihood, that's a good thing. Open them carefully unless you want a faceful of tobacco blown at you. I speak from experience!

    Travel Bag

The link you posted is for a bag that is not genuine leather. It appears that the elastic straps might hold a few pipes adequately, but there's little padding on the sides to protect your pipes. Might work well if used as an organizer inside a suitcase or something.

    Briar Blues Shutting Down

I recall one time when I bought a pipe from Mike and he inadvertently sent me the wrong pipe. Fortunately for me, the pipe he sent me was worth about 5 times the one I ordered. Unfortunately, I had to send it back. Fortunately, the one I bought turned out to be a fantastic smoker!
