Growing up my wife remembers her grandfather smoking cherry tobacco with chocolate notes. This was in the early 1970s. Her grandfather was born 1912.

Can anyone remember a possible brand this particular tobacco might have been that was popular during that time?

I'm going to try to pick up some of each of these if I can find them. Right now she likes Sutliff black cordial and Boswell PDT. But it's not quite right.

It's a win for both of us if I can find the right one. I learned she does not like Perique. Even minute amounts. She is a perique detector so I use that skill with great caution to find perique hiding in blends.

And yet Serie V Oliva she loves.

She is a second hand smoke connoisseur. 😆

Could have been Captain Black Cherry, Borkum Riff Cherry liqueur, or Middleton Cherry Blend. Paladin Black Cherry was very popular in the 70s. There is also the possibility that her grandpop might have got his tobacco from a tobacco store with house blends. I'm leading towards Paladin to be honest, I keep a tub around in my rotation. It's got a cocoa, chocolate, leather with an amaretto Cherry aroma to it. You could recreate that nostalgic room note for her. Get two ounces of Lane's TK-6 and two ounces of Lane's RLP-6, mix them together and put it in a mason jar for a week or so. Smoke that and see what she says.
