***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

My wife is at work and my daughter fell asleep on the way home from kindergarten so I'm relaxing properly! It's a lovely and calm 88 degrees with 11% humidity here and I've got some fantastic Holker Twist (thanks @karam ) in the wonderful first of several pipes I got from artist Doug Finlay...

    Haunted Bookshop

I love Haunted Bookshop and have quite a bit in my cellar. Two other of my favorite burley blends are Watch City Cigar Deluxe Crumb Cut and Old North Church. Both are worth trying if you like burley.

I haven't had any issues but I haven't used it this year.

    Dry/Off-Dry Reisling

Now I'll admit there are some absolutely spectacular chardonnays out there but for ~ $15/bottle I've yet to find a white that can compete:

What are You Watching? [2024] Please Rate 1-5

I've been streaming an old Sherlock Holmes series on RokuTV. 5 out of 5 for an old B&W show. A little after the 10 minute mark in this episode: "It's quite obvious Watson..._____....that's a specially prepared blend only made for the well to do connoisseur. You'll note the burley base and...

Smoking a round roast today. Fat cap removed, injected with beef bone broth last night, and dry brined overnight. Out of the fridge and resting before seasoning:

    Preference: Rubbed or Doubled?

I like to fold and stuff flakes but I also twist and roll the flake a bit after folding to help break it up. I kinda really roughly handle the tobacco to loosen it up but it still holds its "cylinder" shape and then pack it in the pipe. I also make sure this bit is somewhat loose in the...

    Any Port Drinkers?

There's also solera versions which combine very old (small amount) with young (large amount) to produce a unique experience. They're usually pretty good and affordable. One of my favorite sherry soleras (this stuff could be poured on pancakes or ice cream):
