Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

Off topic: My grandfather, born in 1900 had less than a high school education. He was a coal miner, a house painter and later a farmer. He did have brains, he was well read for his time and had wisdom derived from experience. He also knew the limits of his knowledge. It seems these days...

Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

I didnt realize it until recently but one of the professions with the highest suicide rate is farmers. My mind always went to law enforcement but its further down the list. Probably because of peer support and a lot of preventions and awareness raised in the last decade or two.

Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

A nation and people that claim to believe in God cant swallow climate change....go figure. I wonder why I left... As for blends of tobacco...garbage in, garbage out.... I cant prove it but there is plenty of evidence to support agricultral strain. Coming from farm country (and a farm) I have...

Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

Despite humans being frightened to face consequences of their own behavior. Despite humans wanting to illogically fight absolute data Facts illustrate that crops are strained. Strained crops generally create inferior product. I dont know why I bothered to post this on a forum that happily...

Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

Plants do not like drought. Areas that used to get rain often dont get as much and patterns change In the EU Snow fall in ski areas have resulted in closed businesses. What Im saying is areas that got rain dont get it as much. Its clearly shifted. Farming doesnt shift as fast and tobacco...

Climate Change and Its Impact on Tobacco Quality

We talk a lot about lower quality and blame the industry for the decline is quality of blends. Its almost definitely true that blends are cheapened by profit mongers BUT if you look up articles on climate change and tobaccon crop quality there are many. Apparently climate change is impacting...

Pipes by Lee Soaking Up Oil

I think the main consensus is that you probably have not hurt your pipe. However, if you are going to use things on pipes during restoration it is best to have a clear goal in mind and to use certain materials for specific reasons. One of the most useful things I did was to grab a box-o-pipes...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2024?***

    Picking on Brits a Bit

The thing I find really helpful in the eu is that most dairy is ultra pasteurized. One can store many liters of milk and cream on a shelf for months if its sealed. You just grab one and put it in the fridge when it’s needed. The concept was attempted in the US but it weirded out the public. Im...

    Picking on Brits a Bit

Americans are obsessed with refrigeration. In France eggs are sold off the shelf. They sit on the counter at home. Ive never heard not rinsing dishes. Back on the refrigerator issue…there is far less food borne deaths and illnesses here than in the US. US foods are filthy in comparison and...

Pipes by Lee Soaking Up Oil

Considering vulcanite to be plant based is a far reach. Yes it has rubber which comes from a plant but it also has many other chemical additives. Its more accurate to think of it as an early form of plastic…which is what it is. Not much is made from it anymore…pipe stems and certain musical items.

My concern with Murphys is it smells to high heaven. Not in a nasty way but its strong and if it hangs around it would irritate the hell out of me when tasting. My point is all of these complications are not necessary.

Im not sure why you are soaking them in olive oil? Its not needed. Wax and buff should be all that is needed. If you want them darker stain, wax and buff.
