Pipe tobacco is sold in sealed containers. Cigars are not Pipe tobacco is moist and stays so…often too moist. Storage of pipe tobacco is in sealed jars.- Sigmund

I have no idea but I wonder if they just want to kill pipe tobacco. If you think about it (aside from dwindling pipe smokers) Pipe smoking is still uber cheap. Maybe the hope is everyone will smoke cigars...even cheap cigars are expensive.- Sigmund

I just take it and fold it into shape and give it a little squeeze and roll to make the strands less tight...nothing special. A coin is about an hour smoke, sometimes a little less. Im 35 minutes into it so far and down to the last third.- Sigmund

Most people use old seals that are dry. But yes, if you are cellaring they are not the solution. I have about a dozen open blends stored in them as I use them. Zero problems over 6 to eight months. If they are old jars take some pliers and adjust the tension. They can get weak. For the cellar...- Sigmund

Tobacco wont dry quickly but its not ideal storage for years. Many months yes. I use them for keeping and using open blends. No problem.- Sigmund

I dont know about the UK but in the EU propane is considered unsafe for inside use. Butane is permitted. I think it has to do with propane being heavy and if it leaks it gathers up along the floor and can become a bomb. Butane is lighter and disperses. Kerosene smells. Maybe less if its a...- Sigmund
