Great Find Today. Savinelli Pisa 804 Ks
Quite so, Ive ordered a 50gm tin of Peterson Old Dublin that should arrive tomorrow, it cost $90 + post, and the online store is based in the same city I live in though I cannot collect it in person. Tobbaconists are a thing of the distant past here.- brassmonkey

Could 80 Year Old Cigars Still Be Smoked?
Well the consensus seems to indicate that the smoking experience may well be crap. In any case I am going to rehydrate a couple and give 'em a burn. I can then at least say that I have indeed partaken of original 1930's vintage cigars, although it appears that tobacco does not generally age...- brassmonkey

I know this post ain't about pipes but I'm sure there are some smart smokers around who could chime in. I picked up an old cigar box this morning that still had about 15 cigars still in it. The box is much older than I thought, perhaps mid 1930s. They are still wrapped indivually in cellophane...- brassmonkey

Hardcastle Natural - Vintage Market Find
I bought this pipe from a vintage market for the very good price of $8. It looked a little unusual with the natural finish and barely used to boot. Just a clean and a little beeswax polish to get it looking good again.. Nice grain with no obvious flaws. Would I be right in calling this an apple?- brassmonkey

I guess the rusticated area was the reason it was downgraded, other than that it seems like a solid piece of briar. No crack near the rim, just the grain lines. Un-smoked Finsbury II
I looked closely at the 'split' but it is only just on the surface, more like a scratch and doesn't seem to have any depth to it. THe bowl is quite large so I may not be smoking it right away, might have to work up to it.- brassmonkey
