    Which Aero?1Q or McB vanilla

Lane 1Q, without question. Leonard Wortzel Brand Manager, Pipe & RYO Tobacco Lane Limited

    1Q

I'm biased, of course, since I do the brand management for Lane, but this was my go to smoke long before I worked there and it's still my 'stuck on a desert island' smoke. As I've been broadening my palate over the past year, however, I do find myself leaning towards blends with a bit more body...

Tobaccos that taste exactly as advertised?

Peter Stokkebye's Cinnamon delivers a true cinnamon flavor, particularly at the start of the bowl. Stanwell Melange tastes very much like its smell advertises.

Top 10 Pipe Brands in Your Dream Store?

"Personally I think the tobacco is the same if not more important to keep in stock than the pipes" I agree, but I actually have a pretty good idea of what to recommend from a tobacco standpoint. My pipe knowledge, however, is pretty poor.

Top 10 Pipe Brands in Your Dream Store?

If you had a store, which must-have pipe brands would you carry? For that matter, which must-have but unique accessories? A kind of significant on line retailer has asked me to provide them with this sort of advice (I'll reveal the name of the retailer in a couple of weeks), and I figured...

St. Louis Gateway Pipe Show 2012

I'll be there. This will be my first ever pipe show. I'll have a table there for Lane Limited. Stop on by and say hello and grab a free pouch of Capt. Black, Borkum Riff, Sir Walter, Half & Half, Five Brothers, etc.

Brief comparison of PS luxury (VA) blends?

If you like LTF, I think you'll love LBF. To my pallet, the Cavendish is much more pronounced. At this particular moment, LBF is my favorite smoke. As for LNF, the perique is rather subtle, maybe a bit stronger than in Escudo, if you've tried that (if you haven't, I'd highly recommend it).

    Tobacco cuts whats the difference?

Here are some brief descriptions from the Lane Limited trade brochure. Pipe Tobacco: Standard Cuts Most pipe tobaccos, and the majority of the pipe tobaccos in Lane’s portfolio, are cut following the casing and top flavor process. Here are the most common cuts: Loose Cut: A long, thin ribbon...

    turkish tobacco

The terms Turkish and Oriental are often used interchangeably, but I believe Oriental is the actual tobacco type. It has smaller leaves than its Virginia and Burley cousins and is typically sun-cured. When fire-cured you get Latakia. Oriental tobacco has less nicotine than Virginia and Burley...

    Costa Rica Tobacco?

I lived in Costa Rica from 93-95 and again from 97-2000. If I wanted pipe tobacco, I had to bring it with me from the U.S. Plenty of cigars down there, and even some 'bulk' Partagas cigar leaf, as I recall. I would be stunned if there is anyone actually manufacturing pipe tobacco. If there is...

Scandinavian Tobacco Breathes New Life into Lane Limited

Marc: Making these products more readily available is our number one priority, as you can imagine. Believe it or not, there have been no marketing efforts or sales force behind Sir Walther Raleigh, Captain Black or any of Lane Limited's brands for almost five years. That all started to change...

Scandinavian Tobacco Breathes New Life into Lane Limited

Juvat: You are correct. Going forward, Captain Black Light will be re-named Captain Black Round Taste. Name change only. Absolutely NO change to the product itself. The reason for the change is that Scandinvian Tobacco Group (STG), our parent company, prefers not to use to word 'light' on any...
