Nording Pipes - Most Popular Styles?

A new online retailer has asked me which of the Nording pipes he should stock. I have to confess a bit of ignorance here, so I figured I consult the forum experts. Which Nordings should he stock?

Exhaling Pipe Smoke Through Your Nose

I've seen a pretty good video on youtube that talks about 'retro-haling' as he describes it. Just google 'cigar retro-haling video' and it should pop up.

What Info is Interesting from Consumer & Business Perspective Pipe-wise?

Papipeguy: regarding the Stokkebye transition: I sent 1,000 direct mail pieces about the change to B&Ms and another 300 or so to distributors. Granted, the mailer didn't go out until mid March, and I'm sure I didn't hit every shop in the country. The good news is we started shipping to...

    Balkan Sasieni and Balkan Sobranie

Balkan Sasieni is technically not part of the Stokkebye family, but it has been distributed by Villiger-Stokkebye for many years. Just inspected our ample supply today. All ready to start shipping to distributors Monday. Will take a few days after that to make it's way to B&Ms.

    Escudooooooooo-so-Licious

Love this stuff as well. And the best part is there are currently about 8,000 tins of it sitting patiently in our warehouse, waiting for Monday, April 2nd, when we can officially start shipping it out. (Along with a few thousand bags of Peter Stokkeybe Luxury Twist, Navy and Bulleye Flake...)

Are cigarettes tobacco and pipe tobacco the same?

If you're asking about the leaves before processing, the answer to your question is absolutely. The base for most cigarette tobacco is Virginia and the two most common other leaf variants are Burley and Oriental. (Again, I'm referring to the leaf types before any processing.) Not all cigarette...

    Who is your favorite blender?

That would be Frank Blues, who was Lane's #1 pipe guy for many, many years.

Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flake...what say you?

Same here. But we had our master leaf buyer and our master blender here in Tucker last week and when they told me the amount of perique in Escudo I made them repeat the answer just to be sure.

Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flake...what say you?

Love LBF (compeletely unbiased opinion, of course). Definitely sweeter than Escudo, which is kind of what I like about it. Not sure how much perique is LBF, but I learned this week from our master blenders that Escudo has over 10% perique, which kind of shocked me (most blends rarely have more...

    Just Curious

That should have been 'cube cut' not 'cuvee cut.' (stupid iphone autocorrect).

    NY Pipe Show

Stop by the Lane Limited table for some free samples. Looking forward to it.

So they're giving the stuff away

Signed up to keep an eye on my friendly competition and lo and behold received the same tin today. Can't remember when I asked for it. Can't figure out if it's black cavendish or green river burley.

    Lane Limited

From old photocopy of our bulk descriptions (not sure a digital version even exists): 627 - RB 'Light': A light mixture of Golden Virginia Tobacco, with a touch of Mellow Burleys and a hint of Oriental Tobacco uniquely flavored to provide a smooth, light, bite-free smoke.

    Sealed Tins and the Airport

I've been flying around the last couple of months with at least a half dozen tins in my carry-on (actually, my entire carry on has been filled with pipe tobacco in one form or another) and have had no real problems. On the way out of St. Louis I did get asked what was in the bag, because they...

Chicago Pipe Show 2012: Lower Prices on Hotel Rooms

Reservations booked at pheasant run. Really looking forward to the whole week. Craig, enjoyed catching up with you at the st. Louis show, and thanks for helping me calculate how many pouches I'll need to provide free pouches for all for two full days.

    Lane Limited

I haven't smoked it - a bit before my time. But I've seen on the old list of bulks. By the way, we still have a guy working here in Tucker, GA that used to work at the old NY factory. I think he's been with the company about 34 years.

    Lane Limited

When Reynolds bought Lane Limited back in 2006, they essentially put the bulk pipe tobacco (and essentially the whole company) out to pasture. We used to have about 40 bulk blends. Reynolds quickly cut it down to the 7 that are available today: 1Q, Very Cherry, BCA, Burley-Light-Without-A-Bite...
