    What are You Reading Now?

Oceans Ventured I just started this book by Lehman, former Secretary of the Navy. It looks interesting. Describes the cold war period in the 1980's...

What are You Watching? [2024] Please Rate 1-5

It is good but the hairstyles and clothes are so jarring in the early seasons.

What are You Watching? [2024] Please Rate 1-5

All Creatures Great and Small (2020-2024 version). On PBS and Amazon. Rating 5/5. Beautifully filmed and good stories. I was hesitant to watch thinking it would be boring and only started to please my wife, but I was pleasantly surprised.

    Oldest Smoked Tobacco...

I had some 20 year old GLP Cumberland that I smoked and compared it to current day Cumberland. It was noticably better in my opinion, probably because of the Virginia content. However, 20 year old Edgeworth Ready Rubbed didn't seem any better.

The Famous or Infamous You have Met

I sat next to Colin Powell at a lunch, who was very nice. I've also met John Kerry and Terry Bradshaw. I"ve also dealt with a few real estate billionaires in my career (no, not Donald) but they don't count.

    Estate Pipes

I’ve bought most of my estate pipes on eBay but it really is a crapshoot unless you buy from the best of the best sellers, in which case prices are much higher. I recently bought a beautiful Savinelli Autograph on eBay for about $100 less than I would have paid from a more professional pipe...

    Kaigelu 316 Fountain Pens

That’s a Targa model which came in many finishes. The nibs are excellent.

    Kaigelu 316 Fountain Pens

In addition to the sleek look, the Parker 51 hooded nib also keeps the nib from drying out as soon.

    Kaigelu 316 Fountain Pens

Also the Jinhao X159 and X850 models are great. Plain black with gold trim though.

    Kaigelu 316 Fountain Pens

I have a lot of fountain pens of various makers and prices. In general, there is the diminishing returns effect just like in audio equipment, cars and many other things. My favorites are probably the vintage Parker 51 and the new Pilot models which are from Japan but sold worldwide. I’ve also...
