Robert McConnell Blends - Your Opinion?

Not a good opinion. Back in the late 90's i bought oriental (old favorite in the 70's) and it was disappointing. I also bought in the same period of thr 90's a tin of something called maduro and another tin of Syrian latakia. So bad , that i do not buy anything with that name anymore. The old...

Newbie Learns the Hard Way to Dry Tobacco.

For me , the balsa filters work better if i shave them slightly with a jacknife. The object is to open the draw.

    Anyone Here Ever Sampled Pulque?

Yes , it is a low alcohol drink. Pulque may be related to tequila as beer is to whiskey. I have never seen it available outside Mexico.

    Ascorti and Caminetto

As i remenber , Ascorti and Radice were the makers of Caminetto. Davoli was involved on "sales" and image and was not a pipemaker. After the split , Ascorti retained the Caminetto name.

    Home Blend VaPerKen Recipes Anyone?

If you like Caporal and toscanos , chances are you'll like this. 60% D&R Ryback. 30% maduro cigar leaf. !0% virginia stoved. It is a fast burning blend so smoke it slow (like caporal).

    Improving a "French Briar"

I have one very similar. The problem is that it have on the stem a mint, eucalyptus, etc. taste wich i dislike. There is no way to remove that taste. It seems that it is related to the stem material. After a stem change for regular vulcanite , the funny taste disappear. Probably by that time they...

    Smoking a pipe outside

No , better inside. After all , if you pay for your house mortgage then why not take advantage of your home.

    Loose Stem

If not too loose , beeswax work for me. Otherwise , the old trick of heating the tenon and push.

    Green Amber?

Yes , but the smell and taste is extremely strong even when not warmed , like cough medicine , not like the ones of real amber.

    Green Amber?

I have a few amber stem pipes. Two of them , wich are gold guielded bulldogs , have a funny taste on the stem. They smell like pine , eucaliptus , mint wich i dislike. That makes me think that they are not real amber. Other real amber pipes i have do not smell like that. The smell is on the...

    Tobacco Rustica

I realy smoke to enjoy my smoke. Mapacho is something more suitable to mix with piptademia peregrina and have a cohoba ceremony just like a behique. To each one it's own , I'll rather some nicotiana tabacum than anything else.

    School me on Stem Oxidation

Yes , but NO fluor. I use Tom's with good results.
