    Please "School Me" on Perique.

Hey Streeper and thanks for your reply to this post. I'm another new pipe smoker and I much more enjoy getting my info and insights from these forums than from Google etc. I'm yet to try any blend with perique, but I just ordered a tin of Peterson's Elizabethan Mixture, so will soon have my...

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

Thanks so much for your input on this matter. Yes, I have been eyeing off Peterson's Navy Rolls, as they sound intriguing. I just ordered a tin of EM, so time shall tell as to whether it is a successful choice or a disaster!!! I really appreciate your considered thoughts on this topic!

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

Thanks so much for your considered reply. Yes, the prices of pipe tobacco here down under are absolute madness. I only buy a tin once every month or so, which is how I manage the cost. Also, I'm not a daily smoker, so I'm not churning through the tobacco all that fast. I'm determined not to let...

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

Hi Puff nsnuff, and thanks for your detailed reply. I just ordered a tin, so your thoughts are most welcome to me as I branch out into a Virginia blend for the first time. Thanks again!

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

Thanks so much for your considered input! I've just ordered a tin, so will indeed approach it with due reference to my English blend biases and take my time enjoying it. Thanks again!

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

Hi fellow pipers. Has anyone got thoughts on Peterson's Elizabethan Mixture? I've always tended towards English-style blends, but want to venture into some different types of tobacco. I'm in Sydney, Australia, so our access to pipe tobacco is nothing like it is in the US of A and is very...

    Wall Mounting a Rack.

That's an awesome rack, AJL! I'd love to find a nice second-hand wall-mounted rack like yours on Ebay or Etsy. They really afford some prominence and elegance to one's pipe collection! Thanks for sharing.

    Magnum Opus?

I have recently noticed my tobacconist (online) is stocking Magnum Opus by Hearth & Home. The reviews I've read so far, while sparse, seem to agree that it is indeed a singular blend. As a relatively new pipe smoker I was wondering if any of my estimable fellow-PipesMagazine folk had any...

Aonian, English-made Tobacco Jar newly purchased.

Just a quick update, I just purchased an identical tobacco jar, also made by Denby in England. The new one, which I am waiting to be delivered to me, is finished with a dark brown and cream glaze. I shall post a photo of the two jars together once the post arrives. Naturally, I'm already...

    My Predictions

Hi Warren, the issue of tobacco affordability has landed heavily here in my native Australia. A 50 gram tin will set you back at a minimum AUD$130. Unbelievable, I know. But, if you want an insight into what government regulation via taxation can do to tobacco, look no further than here down...

What Are You Smoking, October 2022?

What an awesome collection! I don't think I can buy Drew Estate here in Australia, but I'll certainly keep an eye out. As you say, the tin art is amazing by itself. Thanks for posting.

    Peterson Sherlock Holmes?

Seeking Thoughts & reflections from more experienced pipers. Hi everyone, I am a relatively new pipe smoker and am a new Pipes Magazine member. As well as adoring pipes and pipe tobacco generally, I am also (as I'm sure many of you are as well) an enthusiastic lover of everything Sherlock...

Aonian, English-made Tobacco Jar newly purchased.

Thought I'd show some pics of the new tobacco jar I purchased second-hand just recently. It stands at about 11cm in height, with a 15cm (approx) diameter. I'm in the process of filling it with some tins of Peterson's My Mixture 965 and it really has a delicious bouquet!!
