Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2014 Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Dinner follows this smoke.
Yet another bowl of Coniston/Derringer. This time in a Brulor Mowbray smooth apple. A 1950s pipe found in a Paris pipe factory attic. The quality of the ebonite on the stem is exceptional, no oxidation at all.
The last flake of a 9 year old tin of Capstan Yellow in an unfinished Sav 320.
I'm a fan of Capstan Blue but some age has really made the Yellow into a treat. Nice complexity and a mix of interesting spice notes with nary a rough edge anywhere. Highly cellarable.

Yeah, you have to look hard, or at least often, but if you do you can find some Genod pipes with outstanding grain orientation. All I’ve had have been excellent smokers. This diplomat is probably the most striking example.You don’t see much talk over Genod. PAD really had me on a wild train ride.
But now, I’m very picky, and I’ve been looking almost 2 years for that really special Genod, and yours is a looker.
It wouldn’t surprise if that pipe smoked as fine, as any in your collection.

What an awesome collection! I don't think I can buy Drew Estate here in Australia, but I'll certainly keep an eye out. As you say, the tin art is amazing by itself. Thanks for posting.
