Inside a Pipe Tobacconist Shop in Japan

And here are the pipes from the same shop. He opens drawer after drawer. Northern Briars, Dunhill, Ashton, Neerup, Stanwell. Pipe shop

Hit the little square down in the right hand corner for full screen if you want to read the tins.

Inside a Pipe Tobacconist Shop in Japan

Interesting video from inside a tobacconist in Japan. Lots of tins. Surprised to see Dan Tobacco blends and GL Pease as well. Fun to see what it's like over there. Tobacconist in Japan

***What Are You Smoking, September, 2023?***

I'm sitting here smoking some Sillem's Councilor Flake, an under the radar replacement for Solani 633. Don't believe me? Try it, you'll see. Anyway, I have my MacBook open and I'm perusing SP's tins and see many recent reviews written in Chinese. So I use Google Translate to see what's being...

Are Some Acrylic Stems Better Than Others?

Correction: Just wanted to come back in here and say those Brebbia stems I thought were acrylic--turns out they are vulcanite after all. No wonder they got dull.

How does this one compare to Margate? Cheers.

Dunhill Three Year Matured Virginia from 2016 in a cob. This stuff is way underrated. A beautiful ribbon Virginia. Smokes cool and mellow if you don't push it too hard. Fragrant after a year in the jar. You don't see this one for sale too often on the sites. I love it. It will only get better...

Are Some Acrylic Stems Better Than Others?

The best acrylic stems I've had have been from Stanwell. Hand shaped and durable. Shine up with a few passes of a towel to almost new in appearance. But they are not forgiving to the bite, which I'm fine with since I don't clench. I've had others from Brebbia, for example, that got dull and...

G.L. Pease's Take on Panel Pipes

Great read. How many of those old Garfinkel' tins does Greg still have stashed away?

    Favorite Dan Tobacco blends

Made by Dan Tobacco include the Former's blends. Two of my favorites are Straight Grain Flake (VaPer with a strong dose of Perique) and Cross Grain Flake (more mild).

    Balkan Sobranie tin

Amazing. I hope you will open it and smoke it. Take some more pictures to post if you do. Cheers!

    Amphora Full Aroma

Amphora Full Aroma is great. As stated above it is not a sticky aro. Instead it is a natural tobacco blend with a mild semi-aro top note. Think chocolate and a hint of raspberry.

    Arango Balkan Supreme

The way I got to learn these differences was to order either 1oz or 2oz samples of each. Discovered my favorite was PS English Oriental Supreme. Good luck!

A WARNING TO BRIT’S AND EUROPEAN’S ORDERING FROM SMOKING PIPES

So is it a package labeling change? I wonder if 4Noggins is still an option. They were always a goto for international buyers.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Just want to add that choice of pipe is key to getting the most out of this blend. I like a small to medium bowl with a bit of length to stem/shank. The pipe has to be dedicated to Virginias of course, and carefully broken in. You are slowly over time curing the briar.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Fresh Peterson Flake from a tin I just ordered last week. I wanted to compare it to the 2011 tins (Dunhill square tins) I have been through recently. I like whatever subtle flavoring agent they use on this and so fresh has its advantages over aged. Although the 2011 tins are smooth they were...

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

5X Peterson Flake. I have been smoking old tins of Dunhill Flake from 2011 and I would like the experience of it fresh. My old square tins did leak a bit and the flakes, while smokable, were on the dry side. So I am craving the stuff fresh as I remember it back in the day. One thing I have...

    Aromatics for Tobacco Lovers

Agree with Exotic Passion (if you can find it) but not many of the others. I just ordered a tin of Stanwell Melange based on numerous recommendations but haven't cracked the tin yet. We shall see...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Dunhill Flake from 2011 purchased from the Danish Pipe Shop back when they still shipped baccy to the USA. In a made in France Saint Claude long stemmed apple I bought from the closeout page of P&C. Sublime Dunhill Flake. A little dry out of the tin after all these years (those square tins leak...
