    Cellars & Cellaring? ☕️

I too find myself smoking less than I predicted just a few years ago. This means I have way more tins than I need and am thinking about what I can part with. Have been buying since 2009. I did my last large orders about 3 years ago so I am waiting another couple of years on that vintage so it...

    1999 Assortment of Tobaccos.

Murray's era tins. In great condition by the looks of it.

1792 Gone In Less than 12hrs

Same happened with Wessex Campaign Dark Flake this morning. Luckily I don't really need any more.

    Most Sought After Unicorns...

All the Esoterica of course, but also other Germain production when available like Smoker's Haven blends and their own Germain line. I would add to a lesser degree some recent K&K shortages of Solani 633, Reiner LGF, the Rattray's favorites of HotW, Marlin, Old Gowrie, etc. F&T's CVP. Some...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Penzance from a bag I purchased in 2012 when I walked into Barclay Rex in New York. By chance I had walked in just as they put it out. Think it was $38 or something. Seemed expensive to me at the time. I got home and jarred it up. I smoke maybe just 3-4 flakes a year. I'm a bit more than halfway...

If you could only smoke one blend...

I would need one Virginia and one balkan: 507-C Virginia Slices (easy to get) Smoker's Haven In-B-Tween (unobtainable)

Post-2015 Samuel Gawith, Bob Gregory’s Story

I remember in 2009 the bulk boxes had sealed foil bags inside. Today (and for a number of years) it's just an open plastic bag folded over.

    Longer shanks than stems

A couple of my Ashtons. Carved by Jimmy Craig. He's still doing great work.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Once again Dunhill Durbar from 2016 on a chilly Sunday morning in an Ashton lovat carved by Jimmy Craig.

What Retired Blends Would you Bring Back?

Orlik Brown Sliced, a Virginia oriental flake. I hear Smoking Pipes has been trying to get STG to put it back into production. It was never imported to the US when it was in production.

***What Are You Smoking, November 2023?***

Dunhill Durbar from 2016 in a Peterson Irish Made Army Mount. These Army Mounts with the nickel fitment do not seem to be available anymore in this style.

    That's a beauty.

***What Are You Smoking, November 2023?***

Need advice: I have a mason jar that is on too tight and I can't open. Never had one this tight. Any suggestions? Heat it up in a pot of water?

2011 Best Brown. You can find photos of it in the tin opening thread. Seal was intact. Amazing stuff. Mahogany brown flakes. Smooth and mellow. Much milder than FVF. I prefer this because I don't want all the nicotine of FVF. This is subtle and has to be packed and smoked carefully, preferably...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Pics coming of this 2011 Best Brown. Amazing stuff. Mahogany brown flakes. Smooth and mellow. Much milder than FVF. I prefer this because I don't want all the nicotine of FVF. This is subtle and has to be packed and smoked carefully, preferably indoors.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Reminds me I have one last piece of Salty Dog in a jar somewhere.

Fribourg and Treyer Cut Virginia Plug Availability

I find CVP has a subtle topping (a tiny bit of vanilla?) that doesn't agree with me. Otherwise great quality flake. All of the K&K Va flakes (I guess it's now just K) are worth trying.

    PSA: Check Your Tins Folks!

You know tins are out-gassing when you open the closet or tote you keep them in and can smell tobacco. But that doesn't mean any one seal is broken. Only way to check is gently pull on the lids. If there are no compromised seals you will still smell some tobacco over time, especially with square...

Will the Whole Dunhill Lineup Ever Return?

The missing blends now exist only in cellars stuffed with 5-pack rolls that may never get smoked. I predict much of it will return to the re-sale market as vintage tins. As stated above, these were once available in seasonal sales at a discount and many hoarded them. More than they can or will...
