Maybe you built it. Maybe you inherited it. Maybe it came with your garage, basement or barn. Maybe it's at your business. Some work benches are purpose built (welding table, wood working bench, etc...) while other's serve a variety of needs. What is important that everything is at it should be...

    Soup

Good crusty bread is soup's best friend. Some of my favorite breads of the crusty variety are Pain Pugliese and Pain Rustique. These aren't exactly common but if you have a good local bakery, they'll know what it is. I think they'll bring any soup experience up notch or two. What is your "go...

    Favorite Jarred Salsa

Mrs. Renfro makes pretty good tortilla chips, too! I like the thick ones. Those thick ones hold more salsa with no breakage.

    Soup

If your soup recipe calls for vegetables, you can just toss in some already cut frozen vegetables into the pot if fresh vegetables are out of season.

    Favorite Jarred Salsa

If I must have jarred salsa, I'll turn to La Vitoria in the hottest possible version available. Mrs. Renfro also has a pretty decent jarred salsa. And Herdez of course. Trader Joe's has a variety of salsas, but I find them hit and miss. My preference of course is for salsa fresca, which I...

First Home Grown Fig In 6 Years.

We had a fig tree marking the corners of our ancestral vineyard. Brown Turkey and Missions, if I recollect correctly. Figs are excellent on pizza and fig syrup far tastier than that artificial maple stuff on pancakes. Where we live now was at one time one of the largest fig plantations in...

    Wusthof

Our kitchen knife collection now consists of 25 year old USA made Chicago Walnuts (serrated bread, filet, and Chef,) Lamson Rosewoods(serrated meat, paring, and slicing) and Wusthof Gourmets (.Santoku and paring.) Entirely adequate for our needs. But now I want a tomato knife. Sheesh!

    Wusthof

Rarely we need to add a new kitchen knife. We determined that another paring knife (we currently are down to just one) is a necessary addition to the armory. When it comes to shopping, I'm not really a brand fanboy but I've come to appreciate Wusthof, not the high priced ones but the low end...
