I am glad that I started this thread. It was really very enlightening. This is a great place with great people.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

Update. I have just flushed a group 2 dunhill that I smoked few minutes ago and dry cleaned afterwards. Amazing how much gunk it still had. I wiped the chamber with paper towels and used tapered cleaners as well. The smell almost gone and looks dry and ready to smoke again. Probably the salt...

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

But my pipe is straight so quite a few quantity of alcohol went to the mortise and probably made it damp. I thought of putting the pipe at an angle to prevent this but then alcohol escaped from the bowl and there where the danger of damaging the finish. If I used less alcohol it wouldn't be...

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

I did exactly this. Obviously I saw a picture like this somewhere here. This is the only pipe forum I am visiting anyway.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

Obviously I didn't read the salt-alcohol method carefully. Next time I will do as advised here and leave the stem in. Of course I will try the water flush also, again with stem in. Thanks a lot everybody.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

.... If you browse that thread you will see that at least two members had this swelling/expansion issue which resulted to a stuck stem. I am a very busy man and I didn't come here to bulshit members or waste their time. I am here to ask and learn as you advised. So thank you very much for your...

PipeIT I am one of those who listened to your advice and this helped with the tongue bite tremendously. Thank you.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

This happened to me with Erinmore. Not only it tasted like grass. It bit like a snake no matter what I did and how well I dried it. For that money I could get a 965 and put a smile on my face.

I really like radice's pipes so I think I am gonna add a few to my collection shortly. The rotation thing is the best excuse.

I've learned to avoid tongue bite thanks to this community but I found that my filtered pipes are smoother anyway.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Planofman it felt great to be the first person who smoked that fantastic Radice and the humble savinelli and chacom. Like taking their virginity. The chacom is long sold by the way. Didn't like it. I got back 2/3 of the price.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Well while looking for dublin shape pipes and reading about them here it looks like quite a few members say that dublin in better for flakes and virginia. I smoke exclusively english mixtures and no flakes at all so I wonder if it is a good ides to get a dublin. I may look for dunhills first but...

Is that an army mount? It doesn't have the metal thing where the stem is inserted. While looking for my next Radice I saw that they use this system quite a lot and I find it very nice. Is it strong or does it need attention?

Do You Have Any Pipes You DON'T Smoke?

I smoke all my pipes but I have only 7 briars. Need to buy more. If I don't like a pipe I don't hide it, I sell it. I am new to pipe smoking and I have already sold or returned 3 pipes. My next purchases will be more careful. Also I do not like collecting things I don't use.

Thank you planofman. Excellent briar. I'd really like to find similar pipes but I don't have the time and experience.
