Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Excellent and very informative post planoman but it is incomplete without pictures! :) The tobacco concerns me a lot. Here in Greece there is not a big pipe culture so the best I can find are Peterson (former dunhill). On the breit side these are my preference. English mixtures is all I enjoy...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

From what I understand people do buy pipes. When I am following an interesting pipe offered by international sellers, on-line shops or auction sites, I see those pipes disappear after a while. But then we are talking about buyers from all over the world. I don't know how high or low were the...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Most people when they pay much for an item want it to be as perfect as possible. I sold a gorgeous 400 euro USED castello for a loss because I hated the button and I couldn't stand that decorative ring. It looked cool but very formal. Excellent sea rock, really a piece of art. My 1/4 the price...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

This is what the local tobacco shop owner told me. Almost all his clients who were buying pipe tobacco have died because they got very old so he doesn't stock expensive pipe tobacco any more. So I have to order my 965 and early morning.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

I wanted to make it short so I didn't tell the whole story. The seller admitted that the pipe was overreamed when they refurbished it. For a cheap pipe I don't care much as I always need tinder for the fireplace but for a dunhill I consider it to be an issue. I want the initial dimensions from...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

As for estates of course I don't mind restored as somebody did a good job and spent lot of time fixing problems, usually burnt chambers and rims. But my last purchase was problematic to say the least. A gorgeous 1/2 bent billard. Dunhill, apparently. The pipe was smoking way too hot to the point...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Yes it is great fun to look for a new pipe, especially the ones that are part of pipe history. The problem is that the pipes I like from the first sight are usually expensive. Is is very easy to lose control and spend too much on a hobby. If a pipe is way too expensive it is easy to pass. But...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

I have a good idea of what I want but sure thing is I know exactly what I don't want. That makes decisions easier. Still even a detail is enough to make me go away. I know that I will see it all the time. The problem is that perfect things usually come with a price. However all my dunhills cost...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

You are right. If I completely quit smoking cigarettes I can buy a new radice every two months. It's all about numbers.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

As for the happiness, the less the cigarettes I light the happier I am. And the more I like the pipe I am holding and smoking the less cigarettes I light, so simple.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

I will check them thank you. There was an almost like new dunhill 4114 bent dublin at ebay few days ago for $325+ship from Italy. One of my favorite shapes. No taxes for us Europeans. The seller even sent me an offer for $300. I struggled hard not to buy it but I resisted and did not break my...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

I bought a new clear radice from Leonardo few months ago and it is a fantastic pipe. It was on sale. For some reason I feel very annoyed when I see dunhills at various online shops at such high prices. I cannot understand those prices. I have a few but they are all estates below 200 euro.

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

Title: Lacking capitals. Rule 9. Here I am again. I'd like to expand my very small collection and I am using the rotation and resting thing as an excuse to myself. I am very fortunate to have a wife who lets me smoke inside so I can smoke as much as I like. I like nice things and the brand...

Thank you very much for your time and valuable advice. Much appreciated.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

I assume that after the water flush you still have to clean with the pipe cleaners but it will be much easier since most of the gunk is gone and the remaining is soaked and soft.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

The very hot water will not harm the varnish? It's inevitable that some water will go to the outer surface. It sounds much easier than fighting with the pipe cleaners and paper towels. I will try than on my least expensive pipe.

    Filters; No Filters; and Resting

I understand but the fact at my first post is true and remains. Now that you mentioned the hot water rinse.... Few days ago I treated a stunk dunhill with salt and alcohol for 24 hours and then rinsed with tap water. It expanded and when I tried to insert the stem it stuck so I had to use the...
