The other day I was helping some friends with the cocktail menu for their annual Halloween party - they don't do mixed drinks usually.
This conversation was held over a glass of one such suggestion, the Hanky Panky.
Yes, it isn't a very Halloween-y name, given it's something the older members...
I once heard a quote which was allegedly from ancient history, by a Greek about their old enemies the Persians, I believe.
"The nobles there teach their sons three things: How to ride a horse, how to shoot a bow, and to tell the truth"
In celebration of the long-awaited English release of its sequels, I've been enjoying Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure lately. And wishing I'd set difficulty to Hard because Normal is comically easy.
You might think this belongs in the video game thread. You would be wrong.
About a century ago there was a cocktail called the Silver Stallion.
About an ounce each of gin and vanilla ice cream, filled with lemon-lime soda. Pretty decent.
What makes a man's drink is confidence. If some burly dude pours himself some scotch and spends the next hour side-eyeing everyone...
Enjoying the rain, I've set up shop on the porch to spend a lazy few hours with my pipes.
Currently, Pipe Force 4 in the meer. Before that, Crooner in my designated Crooner Ropp.
I really should sit down and reread The Lord of the Rings, or maybe go through my Sherlock Holmes or Poe collections.
But I am lazy, and have the Internet on my phone, so instead I'm slowly working my way through a bunch of old manga.
Kodomo no Omocha was very solid. Basically a coming of age...
Enjoying the interplay of Visions of Celephais and a mug of Earl Gray as the last rays of the sun fade over the horizon.
Planning a pilgrimage/adventure to the Chambersburg Boswell's sometime next month.
Back again with the same Meer, which now contains War Horse.
...smoked some in the car on my way back from dinner the other night. Didn't get sick, but I sure regretted that decision. Car pipe is only seeing mild aromatics from now on.
I don't know that I have a Core Four, but I've resolved to always keep War Horse, Dreams of Kadath and Crooner in my inventory. Probably pick an English of some variety as my fourth.
Crooner in the meer.
Just not as good without the ghost I've imbued into my little Ropp. Truly, this is the blend that's made a pipe-dedicator out of me.
Welcome!
Of those, the only ones I have experience with are 965 and Saint Bruno. Which are both very nice.
If you want to go really wild and crazy, maybe step out of your comfort zone as a cigar user: Saint Bruno is flavored with flowers.
You know what?
I'm secure enough in my masculinity and sexuality to admit that I was giddy like a schoolgirl when I saw that Rhapsody 2 and 3 were finally getting an English release. Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure was my jam when I was a dorky middle-schooler who liked musicals.
In cool and darkness of the evening, on my smokin' stairs, the last third of a Castro Brothers Lord Baltimore cigar which I purchased today while picking up some Pipe Force Episode V at a local B&M. In a Peterson XL5s.
