I would like to tell you it’s a turd and give you 20 bucks for it but I think you got a really cool pipe. Even if it’s not worth a fortune it’s definitely one to have in your collection. The mystery alone is worth it.
I love some of the seconds that have come about. Even seconds from more affordable pipe companies like Comoys or Jobey. And the seconds from Dunhill ain’t too shabby either.
Your taste in pipes may very well change in time. Buy what you like and can afford at the time. It’s not gonna be the last one you ever buy, even if that’s what you tell yourself.
I brought some nice pipes home from Germany in the early 80’s. Unfortunately I don’t have any of them now. My entire collection seemed to disappear in about 95.
I shouldn’t speculate on the responsible party, it only makes the loss that much harder.
I have a friend who bought a can of the grape off of cigar bid just out of curiosity. He really enjoys it much to my surprise. I tried a bowl but just didn’t care for it. I do say though it really does taste like grape koolaid
I love Captain Black. I’ve been smoking it since the early eighties. Original, royal, and dark. They are however the only aromatics I enjoy. My first was Captain black gold but once I tried the others that was it for the gold.
I haven’t tried any of the oriental blends without Latakia but I do like Presbyterian mixture a lot. Magnum Opus is also really good. As far as the out of production blends, I love Frog Morton “ on the town”
