Best English / Balkan blends for aging
I've had 8 year old Gaslight that's done just fine. Maybe because of the plug? I don't know for sure. I was expecting more of a similar experience to other latakia heavy englishes, but was pleasantly surprised.- dburrows

I don't think this is the case. They specifically say in the letter that they looked at the portfolios of the 2 companies. The manufacturing of other companies products are likely under contractual agreements. They will most definitely have to move manufacturing but they can't just stop...- dburrows

The problem with the faded latakia is that the orientals behind it start to show up and the blends were blended with latakia, not those various oriental components. They can become an amalgamation. What I find is that the more latakia, the less well it ages for this reason. I have had...- dburrows

I haven't read all 14 pages of this thread but they also manufacture H&H as well, don't they? I'm well stocked as is, especially since latakia flavors dissipate so much after 5ish years that I typically don't enjoy them. But it'll be sad if we're having to say goodbye.- dburrows

Haphazard blending from your armchair. Post your successes and disasters.
A few times. Mostly depending on what I have left and open at the time. Recently had about a half a bowls worth of Quiet Nights left and wasn't planning on opening a new tin soon. So I mixed it with about a half a bowls worth of Charing Cross. I thought it came out great. I love both blends...- dburrows
