Old GLP Article About Aging & Westminster in Particular

That is it! Thank you! I honestly thought it was from an article or blog post he'd written but apparently not. So, if the 15 year mark is where he is suspecting it to peak, I should probably open one of those tins from 2007 now, and save another for 2027ish. And it may be worth having something...

    KBV Plateau

Interesting. I'm not seeing it in the shop.

Which GL Pease Should I Buy?

Yeah it doesn't get the attention I think it deserves. Personally I think it's a great morning smoke.

Haphazard blending from your armchair. Post your successes and disasters.

A few times. Mostly depending on what I have left and open at the time. Recently had about a half a bowls worth of Quiet Nights left and wasn't planning on opening a new tin soon. So I mixed it with about a half a bowls worth of Charing Cross. I thought it came out great. I love both blends...

    KBV Plateau

Notice the page is off the site. Nothing about it in the news section. Anyone know if it's gone as in gone for good?

Thanks! I was hopeful, but that wasn't it.

Old GLP Article About Aging & Westminster in Particular

I seem to recall an article years ago (maybe 10 or 11) that GLP had about aging various tobacco varieties and where he thought some of his blends would be at their height before their eventual decline. I know he mentioned Westminster in particular, and from what I recall, said it would age well...

    Anthology coming back

Looks like it'll be on my doorstep on Tuesday.

    Anthology coming back

I picked up a couple tins because I am really wanting to expand my VAs experience. I am a more latakia-forward English and Balkan pipe smoker and I prefer my perique to be barely there or not at all. That being said, I'm really curious of other routes VA folks might take. I figure FVF would be...

Frasier Reboot - hidden pipe reference?

I agree, they do. And I'm liking the show too. Would really have hated them butchering the original.

    Birth Year Pipe

I guess I was a little lucky. Very early into pipesmoking I stumbled on a birthyear Peterson. After confirming the stamping (1978) I went ahead with it. $75 all in. It's not my favorite pipe but I do enjoy it, particularly in December, my birth month.

Half a Bowl of Quiet Nights

So, in the end, I mixed it with a bit of Charing Cross. I actually thought about mixing it with Meridian since I had some of that opened, as well. Meridian is an interesting blend to me, in that nothing really takes center stage. But Charing Cross is one of my favorites. I've always thought...

Welcome! What part of mid-TN are you? Not far from Murfreesboro, myself.

    Latakia blends

Charing Cross is great. It is a regular go-to for me (as are the others I mentioned). The thing that happens when you get to that 7ish year mark, is the flavors have meld together so much that you really can't pick out the individual components anymore. I have some 12 year old Magnum Opus that...

    Latakia blends

Oh yeah, I've had them every step of the way. Basically, for the last 12 or so years, Ive been buying 2-3 times what I smoke of these and Charing Cross. And I'll also hop on tin bids and grab the occasional deal of some tins that have some age on them already. I call them my retirement stash.

    Latakia blends

I'm getting close to the point where I will only be smoking 10+ year old Westminster, WhiteKnight, BlackHouse and Magnum Opus. I loved it when I got to the 3 year mark. Then 5. Now basically 8 across the board.

Yep, still on the square. And The Humidor is next door but I think it was 310 back then.

    Nashville Pipe Meetup 11.18.23

Near Murfreesboro. I can make the treck up. We also have Liquid Smoke down here which is great for the cold months.

Nice! Sorry I missed it but will pay attention for the next one. We have a few nice options in this area for meetups.

    Core Four

I've had a core 5 for quite some time that hasn't really changed. They are: Westminster Charing Cross WhiteKnight BlackHouse Magnum Opus If I had to eliminate one, I think it would be BlackHouse. But that's a tough cut to make.
