    clay pips?

I have the 40cm bent and the 50 cm straight Dutch from RG. The bowls are huge the 50cm is better as there is no glazing and the draw is easier too. The 40cm bent has some draw issues because of it being bent. but still smokes great!

    Pipe filters?

I have a few corn cobs. Filter I never use The draw is massive with the Dane and Pride that I have... I tend to just sip the smoke the results though are tongue-tastic! It's very sensitive to smoke going in through the mouth end and the bent stems are a pain in the ass to clean.

Clay Tobacco Pipes = Need Your Opinions....etc,..

Well I have to say the large Alderman clay pipe smokes an absolute treat even with Mellow Virginia which was a struggle in the old clay.

    Injury from clay pipe

I just dip the end about two inches in spring water for a few seconds, then let the water drip out or suck the rest out.. I guess you can do that with beer but it tastes so I stick with water... it actually makes an even cooler smoke

    Clay Pipes

I bought an English Civil war style clay pipe. The bowl was too small to use the normal pipe tool so I had to use a pencil en as a tamper. It smoked great and the smoke is pure, quite different to briar. The only tobacco that didn't work was Mellow Virginia which was too thick to put down the...

How far down do you smoke?

For those of you who smoke as much to the bottom I am left with about 1/4 to a 1/3 left mostly with aromatics. When.. after it keeps going out after relighting.. I simply pour what is left into a clean tray, wait for about half an hour then pop into a clay pipe. I have mid 17th century English...

mmm so far clay pipe is hit & miss with certain types of tobacco. Mellow Virginia is a no go since it keeps going out. However English blends do well & rum & plum is about satisfactory. Needless to say I am definitly going to get a bigger clay pipe as my English Civil war style pipe is too small...

The airway is quite large on mine and nothing is blocking it. The first time I used it it was pretty good the 2nd just as good but now ... epic failure. May need to get get it re fired and start again.

Yeah exactly same thing with me. I heard that the clay has to be good quality and mine was from Ebay. This is why I will get mine from Dawnmist as the clay is superb and smokes really well even without the glazed end.
