It’s very good. I was worried that 6 years in a jar would have made it really smooth and soft, but it has a nice zing to it that I quite enjoy!Let us know what you think @mtwaller
If it's been undisturbed in that jar then the topping shouldn't have diminished much, or at all. Quite possible it's even had the opposite effect.
How is it? What are the components?
I like it and i am not usually a bright Virginia fan. Components are Bright Virginia , Orientals and Perique. Pressed into a C&D style cake. How is it? What are the components?
Brown Flake is amazing stuff. I love its deep, earthy flavour. I've got some in the cellar that i'm aging so I only smoke the fresh stuff, at the moment. Even fresh out the tin it tastes as if its been aged for 10 yearsGermaine’s Brown Flake from 2017.

Agreed! Brown Flake is probably my favorite of JF Germain’s offerings. It’s a shame that it’s hard to acquire anymore. Definitely a treat in the bowl.Brown Flake is amazing stuff. Samuel Gawith — St. James Flake — A tin from March 2017.
It is! I've opened several of these 2017 tins and there's always been a bit of rusting around the seal. It has never compromised the tobacco itself. At least, thus far. These Gawith tins are the only ones that have ever done this to me.Yeah, that’s the good stuff there.
Is that some rust on the tin I see? It’s hard to make out from the picture.
I had a very rusty tin of 2018 HH Bold Kentucky that smelled and tasted terribly of metal, but after a day or two in a new jar with the lid open it lost the metal taste, and two days with the jar closed later it was one of the best smokes of my life. I reckon that jar is still floating around here, I gotta find that sucker. But yeah rust isn’t bad all the time, and even when it is you still have a chance. It is!
