Hardee's around here's pretty good. Thick tasty patties, fresh veggies, fresh buns. Mickie D's okay. I like the patties on quarter pounder. But wilted lettuce and diced onion kinda gets to me.

Wendy's used to be my choice long time ago. But their patties changed and looks like they were boiled in water. Still love their trash chilli with 3 packets of chilli sauce and 3 packs of saltines.

Fries? I usually only eat them when I'm driving home after the pick up. By the time I'm home, they all sucks. Except Chick Fil A waffle fries. They are awesome anytime anywhere.

Roy Rogers? I haven't seen them since I left NYC. Arby's is sort of a weird animal. That chopped and reformed roast beef isn't exactly my favorite, but do enjoy them occasionally. But now they have so much other stuffs. Do love their sides.

I don't know why people even bother with ice cream when frozen custard exists.

I love Culver's, wish there was one closer to me than a 2-3 hour round-trip.

Subject at hand though, I actually don't mind the Whopper, it's not half bad for a fast-food burger, certainly stomps a mudhole in McDonald's burgers. However, Hardee's equally beats down Burger King. I loved the Hardee's Thick Burger when it first came out, not sure how it is now after it's been so long since I had one.

BK's fries kind of suck though, but at least they don't have the worst fries in fast food, that distinction goes to Sonic.
My wife used to go to Wendy's or BK for a burger or chicken sandwich, then to Mcdonalds for fries. :)
She's a dork.

Bonus points. What restaurant chain became Hardee’s before it was Hardee’s.
I don't know if this was local to Cedar Rapids or if it was corporate , but ours were Sandy's until 50 years ago . Before that I believe they were Henry's .

I remember them. The Sandy’s local to me became a Hardee’s, too. (Iowa as well).

I remember it was Henry’s before that.

Come on man, it's 2025:

Also, for laughs:
I loved that movie, great actor Michael. Something similar happened to me one night. I parked my truck for dinner, but the girl cook told me that they had already closed the kitchen hours, I just asked for a couple of damn omelet sandwiches with scrambled ham. My good friend of childhood came with me that trip, and thanks to him and his blue-eyed, tall, handsome, chemistry graduate, he convinced the cook girl, and they made us a couple of sandwiches. We had a great laugh that night.

But did the food cause that? Or was it the deadly medicine?

The amount of fat kids is shocking. Hard to believe a burger caused such deformities.
I believe its more like self control. Everything in moderation is OK.
Many of the obese children have never had anything harder than Flintstones vitamins.
I know several very obese adults who haven't been to a doctor, or had prescribed medicine in decades.
I believe in much of the Western world there is just too much choice and not enough self control when it comes to food. I am 100% for anyone to sell or consume whatever they want. But there are ZERO, and I mean absolutely ZERO healthy choices if you want fast food. It's not the restaurants fault, they have tried, but people reject their healthy items.
I remember years ago I believe Wendy's was advertising their "healthy" salads. They had over 1000 calories and tons of fat and 4x the daily recommended amount of salt. :)
Don't even get me started on grocery stores!
But you're right, the pharmaceutical business is ridiculous. I can't speak much about the human side, even though I do stay informed, but we see it in the animal medicine too.
Almost weekly or more often we get people asking about this drug or that drug they saw advertised for their pet. My first response is usually, "is your pet sick?"
They say, "no, but I don't want them to become sick, will this drug help?"
No, just no, your pet is fine! :)

Yep. I agree with 90% of that. Our food is trash.

But those chubby kids have had 76 vaccinations by the time they're 12 or 14 years old.

I do realize fatness exists outside of that, but it's worth saying that they have seen some shit stronger than vitamins.

Back in the day though, pre 1950's.... They say you had a job waiting for you at the circus if you were over 300 pounds.
