If you see obese people at the grocery store, just glance at their cart. It's hard to believe it's lack of food education these days.
You're watching me? Next time, say hello.

McDonald's double cheeseburger was the best deal on the market for a while. While I dig Burger King's onions and mayo, the patty size and flavor have gone down hill. Wendy's burgers are fairly spot on and the spicy chicken sandwich is legit.

Reading arguments about whether one fast food place has better tasting meat patties over another is like hearing kids discuss which tastes better glue or the paste. It's barely even food. Cardboard has as much nutrients in it as a burger from a fast food place. people getting suckered into believe that a fast food meal combo is a viable meal is what is wrong with this country. We are basically morons.

No one is championing fast food is better tasting or healthier than homemade burgers. It's more of "the best of the worst" scenario related to convenience and cost efficiency.

It's hard to find ground beef for under $4 a pound (when you can still get 4 meal options for $5 at Wendy's) and work restraints sometimes prevents me from getting food on the table at a reasonable hour for my daughter.

Fast food is a crutch that I don't rely on often (just look at the various food posts I have), but has its spot when needed.

I don't know if this was local to Cedar Rapids or if it was corporate , but ours were Sandy's until 50 years ago . Before that I believe they were Henry's .
Hey, are we neighbors? I grew up in Marion in the 80s/90s, and can't remember a time before Hardee's. Seems like the merger with Carl's Jr happened in the very late 90s, but it didn't seem to change a lot...

When it comes to burgers, the "If you want things done right, ya gotta do 'em yourself" rule applies:

The best burger I ever had was a triple Whopper, back in 2010. I ordered the combo and extra chicken fingers. When the lady asked what I wanted for drink, I said no bother, darling, I've got lots of beer in my hotel room.
Yes, I was drunk.
She laughed so hard she waived the cost of the fingers as I was taking no drink. :ROFLMAO:
But, man, that burger was epic.

Hardee's around here's pretty good. Thick tasty patties, fresh veggies, fresh buns. Mickie D's okay. I like the patties on quarter pounder. But wilted lettuce and diced onion kinda gets to me.

Wendy's used to be my choice long time ago. But their patties changed and looks like they were boiled in water. Still love their trash chilli with 3 packets of chilli sauce and 3 packs of saltines.

Fries? I usually only eat them when I'm driving home after the pick up. By the time I'm home, they all sucks. Except Chick Fil A waffle fries. They are awesome anytime anywhere.

Roy Rogers? I haven't seen them since I left NYC. Arby's is sort of a weird animal. That chopped and reformed roast beef isn't exactly my favorite, but do enjoy them occasionally. But now they have so much other stuffs. Do love their sides.

Went to Culver's, had a "Butter Burger," some fries, and some cheese turds.

Ya'll can keep that mess. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The pickles suck, they tasted like cucumbers.

You brag about being from Wisconsin yet your cheese curds taste like something I could buy at Wal-Mart and cook in the microwave.

Went to Whataburger a few days later to check, and yes it's still the king.

Maybe I'm just not white enough to honkey it up at Culver's... I'm enough of a cracker to enjoy Chick-fil-A, but not enough for Culver's.

You better just stick with Cracker Barrel.

Funny timing seeing this. I am entitled to a free Whopper every three months with the Walmart+ membership I get through my credit card. I haven't used that benefit until just a few days ago because I have always thought of the Whopper as too much of everything and not enough being an honest burger. I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh onion, tomato, and leaf lettuce and its lack of crappy American cheese and Thousand Island-style special sauce. It was solid. It's still inferior to the Culver's Double Butterburger, which is a griddled smash burger, but it's solid.
