I know there is a "Dog and Pipes" thread, and I couldn't find one for Cats, so I decided to start one. I'm sure many individuals on here have cats, so I thought we could share pictures of our other furry friends. Mainly for the reason that one of our cats passed away this past Thursday unexpectedly, and I'm missing our beloved "Boots."

For those unaware, we had a pipe burst in our bathroom last year which caused us to move into an Air BnB for several months, and during that time we moved the cats to the shop, so the contractors could come and go without fear of the cats escaping the house. During this time I would still hang out in the shop in the evenings after work, and on my days off to keep the cats company during this stressful time. It was nice having some smoking buddies for a several months, and we were finally able to bring the cats back in the house at the end of March. After a couple weeks of being back to normal our cat "Boots" passed, so now everyone is adjusting to a new normal in the house, including the dogs and other cats. I'm thankful for the past 11+ years we had with "Boots" and with the few months of having him as a smoking buddy. He's missed greatly.

With that said here are a few pictures of my cats. This thread isn't meant to be a downer, so please share your pictures of your furry friends.

We lost our cat HeeHaw 2 years ago. We found her as a tiny kitten in 1997, she was 26 years old. :)

Wow... 26 years! That had to have been really hard when she passed. Lots of great memories I'm sure.

Over the 25 years my wife and I have been married, we've had to say goodbye to four dogs, and four cats. It's never easy as for us they're family. We're always thankful for the time and memories they gave us.

Wow, 26 years! Any tips on how to help them live that long? What foods do you feed them?
Shockingly she wasn't that healthy. She had an autoimmune disease that caused issues like skin problems and stomatitis. She was on Depo Medrol shots and had most of her teeth removed over the years. In fact, that's most likely what killed her. She was in great shape, but her kidneys gave up. Probably due to the illnesses.
As far as food, that's a tough one.
I get Hills Science Diet and other "prescription" foods very cheap due to my job, but they aren't the best and most animals don't like it.
I suggest any dry kibble with low fat is usually good. We personally use "Chicken Soup For The Soul" in the house. In the clinic they all get Earthborn Holistic, which is great food too.

I will add that good country living on a farm is good medicine for animals.
Our animals all live long lives.....unless they are stupid.....then they die quickly in a whirl of excitement!

She had some medical issues but was happy. One morning she just didn't wake up. Luckily it wasn't a dramatic end like some have been. :(

This is our Minerva who crossed the Rainbow bridge just two weeks ago. Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. She was such a diva and tolerated us for 12 years.

This is Albus who is a great companion and my best buddy. I can tell he looks for his sister at certain times. He sits by the screen door when I smoke my pipe on the patio and sniffs at the passing smoke. He seems to like it!

It’s amazing how much these animals have an impact on our day-to-day lives. They truly are family.

Sorry for your loss, beautiful kitty.
Were they related?
They look a lot alike.

Thank you. They were rescued from the same cat colony and I think they were half siblings. They were estimated to be a year apart in age but shared they shared a lot in their appearance. One thing that always struck me was the gray coloring in her calico was identical to his gray coat. For one-time feral cats, they were two of the most affectionate and friendly animals I've ever had.

As much as they show us affection, we're really just glorified furniture to them.

As much as they show us affection, we're really just glorified furniture to them.

Cooper is our "Ghost" cat as she's usually always hiding, and really only comes out at night when things have calmed down in the house and the dogs make their way to our bedroom. She will sleep atop the cat tree at night, but during the day she's either in the closet or under the bed.

Boots was our snuggler and he would always go from room to room snuggling with whoever was available, or he would be on the back of the couch breaking down the cushions as he was a chubby guy.

Charlie is the one that makes me feel like glorified furniture. If I'm sitting in the chair she's sitting on my lap. Whether that was when the cats were in the shop or now that they're back in the house, if I'm in my chair she's on my lap. She's a good snuggler too though.

Sorry for the loss of Minerva. She looked like a very sweet kitty. These furry guys definitely make an impact on our daily lives, and they definitely tolerate us.

Two excellent subjects! So sorry to hear about Boots, it's hard to loose a friend after so long. I also lost a cat last winter, an adorable loony creature named Harley:

But I still have this lump, Niska:

It's good to have critters, even if they don't appreciate pipes!

Sorry for the loss of Harley. It's never easy when we have to say goodbye to our furry friends.
