That's sum good shight right there.

As for me, it was time to dig a little deeper into the cellar and bust out a 2009 tin of Escudo. Been a while since i've had any of this beloved pipeweed.

Stuffed a bowl full of this into a Tekin squashed tomato meer. Smells amazing. Catch ya on the WAYS thread... ;)
Never tried Escudo myself but I feel like I can smell that through the screen!

In my quest to go wide before deep, another new blend for me, Cornell & Diehl Bayou Morning Flake. I've had a few Virginia perique blends, but never sure how much influence or flavor I was actually getting from the perique. This blend is 25% perique so I'm hoping to get a better feel for it when it plays a larger part.
Nice photos. Thanks for posting. I too just picked some up and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the blend when you get a chance.

Just begrudgingly cracked a tin of Dockworker. I'm trying to avoid opening tins but, equally, I'm still trying to learn what blends are for me. Haven't smoked any Dockworker yet but it came in a big, folded, messy broken flake. Hopefully smoking this will help me to isolate the flavour of orientals.View attachment 375634
I usually cut the strip into bowl size portions when jarring.

Opened my first ever tin of Haddo's Delight this afternoon. And probably my last.
Couldn't taste anything but the topping. Maybe I'll try another bowl in a few days when it's had time to air out a little bit. I don't have high hopes. Smells good though.
I have no idea how they consider this a non-aromatic. It is everything I hate about aromatics. LOL

Just grabbed a tin of this myself to try, be interested on your thoughts.

I'm still figuring out what I think about it. Prior to this one I smoked a tin of Chenet's Cake and Kajun Kake and overall find Bayou Morning Flake less complex. No bad or off flavors, just not as much depth. That is a preliminary take on it, only about four bowls in.

I have no idea about this one, but for me, almost everything from C&D that I try, is better "later", after being opened for a bit. Very few are great for me from the very beginning.

I put this in yesterday’s WAYS thread, but it’ll go nicely here as well.

It’s been a few years since I had a tin of McClelland 40th Anniversary open, so I popped one.

Once the sugars warmed up a couple minutes in, it really started to sing. Bright tangy fruit balanced with brown sugar and a touch of caramel. Medium flavor strength, but this still had a quite a bit of body and spice, even after 8 years in the tin. Not so malty and bready as the last CC I had open (2014).

All excited to get into a 2018 SG Kendal Plug I picked up a while back

Hmmm, I thought the newer deli trays were a bit flimsy, but this looks like a baggie that a druggie from Trainspotting sealed with a Bic

Ruh roh……gonna need some serious rehydration.

Looks like the core may still contain moisture

Gonna let the crispy outside get less crispy for a while

I was in the mood to try something new and had recently picked up a couple tins of Midsommar, being intrigued by the ingredient list. A quality b/o/v blend sounded interesting and since i have no outlet for Warped products while in WA state i jumped on the opportunity.

Popped this one this morning. Damp and fluffy. Will try it straight away and then, if necessary, give it a little dry time to compare flavor and burnability.

I decided to open two tins I’ve had sitting around for a while that I’ve been excited to try. I just needed to move though a few jars before I did so. The first can I opened is G.L. Pease Jack Knife Plug from 2022: 1741711881944.png

Looks like plume on it and the can made a nice pop when opened. Smells good and the white specks aren’t fuzzy. I’ll take my chances :)
