The Erno part stuck. In my mind Rubiks is a verb not a noun. I just always assumed that when I was a kid and the plasticity of the mind is as amazing for it's flexibility as it for it's often inability to budge on somethings. It's almost like how if I found out your real last name was Chasing and you really are mister Chasing, it would still feel like a nickname.
Unofficially, in my maternal family, my real name is Chasing Embers, often called Little Embers as a child.

I never understood the Lawn Urge.

Grew up in a manicured Midwestern suburb, and half the year for everyone was

Snip snip, clip clip, bzzzzz bzzzzz, scoop scoop, carry carry, dump dump, repeat.

My idea of a perfect yard came later: 2.66 acres of untouched desert in far northern Scottsdale. What's referred to in that part of the world as "natural landscape".

The most yard work I ever did was remove the occasional plastic bag caught in a cactus at the end of a windy day.

The rest of the yard work time budget was spent grilling, watching critters with binocs, reading, going for walks, and so forth. 👍

This isn't my place---it's just pics off the Net---but was taken only a few miles away. The "feel" is exactly right:

Those are spectacular photos. Would love to visit there someday. living in an Eastern Seaboard setting it is about as different an environment as I could get and still be in our country. Truly beautiful...

Indeed.

People either love the Sonoran Desert or hate it. Seems to be a cellular-level thing.

For years I had pics taken from my back patio & rooftop patio that looked just like those except the mountains were closer, and the ground was slightly more rolling.

Computers didn't have nearly as much capacity 20 years ago, of course, so high pixel count shots had to be stored offline in assorted widgets like discs and disc drives.

Assorted widgets that could be easily lost when moving.

And that was that. The only pics I have now of my favorite-ever house and its views are in my brain.

As for the Eastern Seaboard, I lived in Swansboro, NC for several years, long before The Mob arrived (Emerald Isle was 95% empty... a few old houses on stilts at the southern end, and a few piers as you went north). Lovely place. I miss it, too.

nice painting is great. I don't sell many but there is something indescribably great about even just physically going about the act of painting and there isn't quite anything like that semi rare moment when you go back and look at a painting a month latter and can't believe you actually pulled off making it. :)
I agree. I have a small studio in my basement. But my real love is plein air painting. I do about 100% in oils. Also there are a lot of semigood painting,to real good ones. but when you get the one that clicks ,thats great.

Not in a while, renegade juggling when I was buying more, I have too many juggling props so I switched to pipes 😂 I am @curveballcontact on insta. That’s great, another pipe smoking contact juggler! It’s an incredibly difficult art form 😂
I started with cue balls in the late '80s after seeing Michael's performance piece "In Motion". When I saw Labyrinth, I immediately knew who was doing the juggling.

Same, I blame Michael Moschen. Do much shopping at Dube's?
My friend, Tony Duncan, won the 1994 IJA World Championship with a contact juggling routine. He used to play table tennis with our group on Wednesday nights. He was doing contact juggling in Japan way before people ever heard of Michael Moschen.

Did they call it that then? I hadn't heard the term until the mid 2000s.
Yes, I believe so.

The first time Tony showed us some of his multi-ball routine, our jaws dropped. When he started rolling the balls up his forearm and back, it was like watching magic.

Here’s one of Tony’s one ball routines. His control and fluidity has always blown my mind:

James earnst coined the term Contact juggling as the title of his book , which was essentially a book of M Moschen moves, which then really pissed off Moschen. 😂

one sad thing is how overly tied art has become to commercialism. Now I have no problem with commercial art or making money with art. What I have a problem with is people not realizing these are two separate things. And that art is valid even if all it does is help a person express themselves to themselves. Or in other words art does not need to be validated by anything more then the artist getting anything out of making it.
I hate the but I suck at it so I can't. My artistic dream is to show people that you don't need anything more then the drive to create to make something worthwhile. Kind of like what punk did for music. Because I think creative pursuits are good for our psyches and souls period.
