Nice texture!
Thank you both! It’s got a nice feel to it.Awesome! I also like the texture!
Yeah... I’ve been dabbling with the idea of not but I had it in my head that I was going to try some form of contrast. How did you produce the texture?
Also, you don't need to stain it—unless you do.....
Apologies - I missed your question there. I sank 6 small nails in A handle I made from some milliput paste, pressed into the briar and twisted. How did you produce the texture?

The texture is killer. ?
Thank you both! Will be staining tomorrow. ?Very nice ? work!
It is a really nice one to hold. Can’t decide if I prefer smooth or rusticated now!Looks great, bet it feels great to hold too.
Also, rustication looks especially good on pokers, I think.
Thanks!Great results, the texture you’ve created goes well with the design.
That rustication is fantastic! Any chance we could get a pic of the tool you made? I'm wondering how the nails are arranged.
Thanks all! The staining didn’t go quite as planned ? but that’s okay - still learning and I like black pipes... thankfullyLooks great. You could do a fumed(?) stain finish and it would look like a perfect roasted marshmallow. I love that look.
Thank you! Another two pipe blocks ready to go. One of which I’m going to crack my carving chisels out for ?2nd pipe, awesome!! I definitely appreciate the chimney pipes and stacks. Keep it up, and I hope to see more great things from you to come.
Here’s that picture I promised. It’s not pretty, but it works. Thanks!

I’ll take a picture of the tool tonight, though it’s very rudimentary I warn you now... Dont be expecting anything ‘professional’ ?
