Because they use a 50g ribbon tin for everything since it’s cheapest that way.
Once upon a time it was in a nice perfectly pocket sized tin. I don’t know why they switched to the round tins. You think that one’s big, check out the 3P’s tin.

It’s 100g ribbon tin. Really ridiculous it banging around in there. They’d be better off to just put it in a pouch like salty dogs IMO.
And then you have Fribourg and Treyer that every once in a while just put 50g in 100g tin. Who the fuck knows why?!

When I'm going out I just fill an old50g Dr Pat tin with an 'all day' blend and try to remember to tip whats left back into the jar at the end of the day so it doesn't dry out.
Where do you live such that a few extra hours or days would dry the tobacco significantly?
Isn't the origin purpose of flake tobacco to remain moist so it can be carried around or used while away from home?
Not saying this is how flake tin users should treat it in modern times, but the tin is more of a marketing vessel for flakes.
