My wife gets me several brands of Bay Rum, mostly because it smells good to us and tends to be not super heavy after a few minutes. People over a certain age have to beware of their diminished sense of smell, and as a result, the tendency to load on scent that they may barely smell but that suffocates bystanders at restaurants, theaters, or just walking past on the street. A group of blue haired dignified matriarchs, like maybe a bridge club, parading along the sidewalk in town can take out a team of Navy Seals just walking past with their tactical chemical warfare cologne.

I'm afraid my father was a bit like that with the Old Spice. Maximum intensity.

My grandpa used that stuff. We’d get him a bottle every Christmas. Only he’d use less than a whole bottle in a year so he started to gain a cellar.

I've never been a cologne or after shave guy but I do use Old Spice deodorant.

I have a small bottle of bay rum and another of "hippy oil" (patchouli) that I will some times deploy very sparingly.

Beyond that, coffee and tobacco are my essences.

Old school, clean, and reserved.
Clubman after some Cella shave cream is the alt...

I use witch hazel and Clubman Pinaud after shaving.

That's how long I've had my beard but still shave the neck and above my beard line. Never have used aftershave.

I don't usually wear any aftershave/scent. But, when I do, it's Clubman. Regular and Bay Rum. Always smells great. It's a classic.
