smokey, I have owned 2 Caminetto's and both were great smokers. I think they smoke every bit as good as a Castello, and are a very underrated brand. Collectors who know their history go after the 70's and 80's versions that were made by Radice and Ascorti.

Ya I read the history on the caminetto as soon as I bought mine and I was surprised to hear those two were a part of it mine of course is a newer one and probably got made in the factory after radice and ascorti left the company but still that's pretty cool to know lol

This is a somewhat unrelated question but what is that wooden tray with a whole bunch of stones in your first picture, Smokey?

I have one lying around at home and I can't figure out the purpose of it..

Here are my Caminettos. They are all 70's vintage except for the pot and the bulldog.

All of the 70's era I bought new back in the day and they are all great smokers.

Nice Keith that's a hell of a caminetto collection sweet I'm partial to mine cause it was my first high end pipe but I got it for under 100$ or else I would have backed down plus it smokes great.

Just made a trade for another great Caminetto from the early 70's. Will photo up when I figure it out.

In the spirit of the thread, here is a Sergio, pipes made by Giuseppe Ascorti for a short time in 1980 after leaving Caminetto. "Only 800 to 1,000 Sergio pipes were released" (pipedia).

I bought this Caminetto in Kaliuea-Kona, Hawai'i, in 2005, from a teeny-tiny shop called Tim's Cigars. The place was just teensy, very warm inside, and they didn't have much in the way of pipes. But I was having a great time, and it was (apparently) the only traditional tobacconist in town. I loved this pipe when I saw it, and I still do - it's my only 20th Century briar. I paid $90-- was that good?

Excuse the poor snapshots taken on my desk. It's a tall chimney, New Dear carving (I see very few New Dears in completed listings on eBay, not sure if these are less common than the Business style) and is apparently shape no. 115. I've read that Caminetto overused the KS designation, but I think it applies here. It is indeed Ascorti Radice, and I wish I had an approximate date; it also has the Tinder Box shield stamp. It reminds me very much of volcanic formations, appropriate for an island pipe., and though it's been smoked and the rim is black, that just adds to its charm for me.
