Good news (apart from Burnt Ends) is that FVF boxes are back in stock. I grabbed 8oz for $45, which is a significant discount compared to the 25 pounds I paid for one tin in Oxford UK back in Sept.
Yep - really stocked up on SG today. Much needed.
I tried to order Burnt Ends this morning, but couldn’t get onto the site until a few minutes ago—I’m guessing it sold out hours ago. Oh well. So I grabbed some Hal o’ the Wynd, a couple of Drucquer & Sons, Ltd. I haven’t had yet, and a couple of G.L. Pease Zeitgeist blends that I haven’t tried.
Interesting, Burnt Ends is the local BBQ specialty, which made me think this blend would be like FVF but with some of that smoky BBQ thing to it.
I suppose I'll never know since as soon as the smoking pipes email came into my box that they'd gotten a drop of Gawith stuff, their site went down. But the large box is probably too much for me at any rate.

My understanding is that it’s traditional for cooks to keep the burnt ends for themselves as a reward for their hard work. If a BBQ place can put them on the menu, they must be doing a brisk(et) business!
Obviously it will be a few days before the order lands but - I'm guessing the Burnt Ends won't be incredibly different from regular FVF. It will likely have some sections that are very dark and "caramelized", but just will be fairly normal.

Not a fan of Full Virginia Flake, but I could definitely go for some brisket burnt ends.

I spoke with a reputable retailer this morning who told me he was directly informed by a Gawith representative that this blend is simply FVF scraps. FWIW.
