I usually read while piping but if I listen to something thing its almost always bbc world news. Being a musician, I find having music on makes my mind run a bit faster and makes it harder for me to get into the zone with my pipe. Weird huh.

If I'm on my iTunes as usual it could be anything from Marty Robbins, to The Kinks, to Norwegian black metal.

Lately I have been listening to a lot of Medeski, Martin and Wood. They are a very creative Jazz Trio from the USA and have been playing music together for something like 20+ years. But in all honesty, what ever is on my iPod is what I will listen too, and that ranges from Electronic to Jazz to Metal to Folk and everything in between. If it is creative, and on an independant lable, chances are I like it!

I love listening to music while smoking, especially on a walk (three of my favorite relaxing pastimes at once). I'm a musician as well, but for some reason don't have Peck's curse. I listen to a fairly wide variety of music, but mostly metal. For relaxing with a pipe, it's usually calmer ambient metal or rock.

I looove listening to music and smoking.
I get sonic synesthesia on a spectrum of intensity - the kind of weird stuff where you "can taste the color purple" and such. I'm an overtly artistic kinda guy too.
Any metal fans like Wintersun or Nightwish? Ensiferum? I also love Rammstein and Svbway to Sally. And Eluveitie, and Korpiklaani... I better stop now, I could go on forever :wink:

We probably have a few bands in common. I need to check out Wintersun, and enjoy Nightwish and Eluveitie every once in a while. Folk metal's been a growing attraction for me.

Ravenwolf, I have Ensiferum, Wintersun, and Korpiklaani all on my iTunes rotation. I'm not as fond of Time as much as the Wintersun CD, which I enjoy singing along with when driving. Sleeping Stars is a particular favourite song.
My metal tastes are very broad. Although I tend to prefer the more extreme end of things, I also enjoy progressive stuff like Opeth and Katatonia. I do several "one man band" projects in my home studio, one of which is a blackened thrashy thing along the lines of At The Gates. I just love metal.
