My paternal grandmother was an immigrant from Hungary and as most Eastern Europeans she made a fantastic stuffed cabbage. I have the recipe and I can nail that one. But the chicken paprikash and nokedli is another story. I miss that dish.

Jam Jam cookies. My wife is convinced she never was given the full recipe. Never resembled or tasted like a hockey puck when I was a kid. Even in Canada, that’s not good 😂

Butterscotch Pie.

At least once a month we'd go to granny's after Church and she'd fix meatloaf, mashed taters, string beans, yeast rolls and BUTTERSCOTCH pie, YUMMMMMMM! When I started college in 92' she'd make me my own meatloaf and butterscotch pie to take with me!

I've since figured out how to make the meatloaf taste as good as hers used to, but I never could get the pie to taste right and finally quit trying. Yeah, I've got her recipe book, but she added something no one can figure out.
