Uper's Complete And Detailed Review Of Comoy's Cask #4

I like it better than PS Navy Flake. It is a gentle smoke, not as flavorful as Dunhill Flake, or IRC slices. I know the perique is there because it does not taste like a straight VA flake. I have a tin of Robert McConnell Perique that I add to it from time to time to keep my interest up.

Just Watched Father the Flame - Any other Documentary Recommendations?

The current negativity toward smoking, apart from dryness at home, is why I only smoke inside. I smoked on my porch for a time, but comments from neighbors led me to realize I needed to go inside.

New Peterson - draft hole too high?

My 2 cents: According to Pipedia Kinsale pipes are 'A Peterson sub-brand / second.' If that is not a mistake the drilling could correctly be too high. I must be misunderstanding Pipedia.

    Lapsang Souchong Smokey Tea

LS was my favorite tea. When visiting China I asked for some to take home. They drink green tea. After some special arrangements, I was able to take some basket fired tea home. I am now drinking Lavender Earl Grey, Twinings new blend. It is very aromatic and quite a departure from LS. I also...

Calling All Lurkers: Speak Right Up

I am a reader not a writer. After having read topics for a while, I must say, interesting reading for you non-lurkers is not on my writing agenda due to opinions expressed on this forum.

    Folded Flake

Don't laugh at my reference to this flake. But we used to have folded tacos in our TEX MEX and I have raised a foal, so therefore 'folded flake.' I enjoy the Forum, and dislike the word 'lurker'. I have learned not let the cat out of the bag. I love to smoke but I don't go out smoking ever...

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

I purchased a Claddagh X105 in 2011. This pipe has been smoked 3-4 years. I noticed a vertical crease inside the bowl a month ago. I reamed it out and on the bottom of the crease side very heavy carbon. Inside the bowl the crease didn't go away. Then I saw the crease on the outside. The bowl has...

Billy the Kid Played Croquet...Who Knew?

Lew Wallace was territorial governor. He was busy writing Ben Hur and minimized the capture of Billy or so I have read. This was all soon after the Civil War. Billy worked at the Coe Ranch in Lincoln County and sold meat to the Army here in Tularosa NM.

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

In 2011 I was looking at a Kildare in a pipe shop after have driven 200 miles to get there. I grabbed the shank and turned the stem to see the tenon, and the shank broke. The salesperson said he would have to charge me $50 for the pipe I broke. He said that was what the pipe cost him. $50 down...

Is a Dunhill Worth the Cost?

Background in English Lit. Read and smoke. I have 5 all bought new from IRC. Worth the money, yes. I am not a snob. What works for me may work for you. I smoke no aromatics.

    Bubbling Pipe Finish

I got an Aldo Velani, Collection A, from P & C. I liked the pipe because the stem has crazy white lines on it. Anyway, the finish bubbled. I sent it to Starfire in AZ. When I got it back I could see two humungous fills on the bowl. That is not the worst. The drilling is too far down in the bowl...

    Commissioned Pipe, Expect Inclusions/Pockmarks?

Namuna, Back three years ago when I had money and didn't know much about smoking a pipe, I bought a new Dunhill Amber Root Tilt Bulldog (4) through the internet. Besides a lot of money, I did not have to spend, when I opened the box I was startled to find on the upturn (left side)four little...

    If/Then, Parker/Dunhill

drwatson: DR means 'dead root'. Dunhill pipes are beauty in the mind of the beholder. They aren't for everyone. They range from good to sublime quality. "Facile Est Inventis Addere", meaning it is easier to add to things already invented.

    Edwards Tobacco Dallas

rothnh +1 Dave Wolf was supportive on the phone, and either he, or Mike Meyers fixed it. This all happened 8 months ago. The pipe was ordered 11 months ago. I am making this post now, to be done with a bad deal. It wasn't the money, it was his disregard for the customer. He sure billed the...

    Edwards Tobacco Dallas

I believe I waited 3-4 months for the pipe to arrive, Oct-Jan 2012-2013. It is an ELITE made in Greece. I am still embarrassed. The pipe returned from Walker in another month. It was mailed in an envelope with stem inserted in the pipe. I presume it was broken in transit. Right I should have...

    Edwards Tobacco Dallas

My First Post. I bought a pipe and tobacco. The pipe arrived 6 months later. The stem was broken. I sent it to Walker. He replaced the tenon. I looked on the internet today, and found no internet for him. Anyone had similar trouble?
