How old is the lighter? You may need to replace the flint or clean the striking wheel.I was having a problem getting it to light. It had plenty of fuel.
That part I know I have right. I fixed it up myself, winding it all through the rayon/cotton balls. It could be that the wick isn't long enough. I don't mean how much is sticking out, I mean how much is inside the lighter. Also, the wick should be woven in between the cotton pads inside the lighter.
It's fairly new. But how would cleaning the strike wheel help? Make sure enough sparks are generated? How old is the lighter? You may need to replace the flint or clean the striking wheel.
ExactlyMake sure enough sparks are generated?
Interesting. Thanks.@sugardaddy
Oh, and swiftly lift up the lighter after opening it to clear any vapors from the chimney. That can cause one not to light as well.
Makes sense. Upon looking at a nearby zippo wheel, it does seem to be a little directional. But if a zippo person, or soemone with a microscope were to tell me otherwise, I would believe them.I had a regular Zippo that had issues getting sparks and put it down the flint wheel being installed facing the wrong direction, I bought another insert which fixed the problem...
If you run your finger across the wheel in both directions you'll notice the difference, The ever so slightly more abrasive direction should be in contact with the flint to produce better sparks...
Well that's my theory...
NoNo. No. No, no. <- More than one word answer.
Don't be afrayed at all.Should I fray my Zippo wick?
I use the pipe lighter insert, if it makes a difference.
