I don't top off to the rim of the pipe with tobacco. And I only smoke outside. Zippo works fine for me. Not sure, but loading the pipe all the way to rim might have negative effect on using Zippo?

Haven’t tried it yet for actual smoking. ?
One of the things I like about it is that I can easily swap out inserts if it’s windy and I want to use the fluid insert. The butane is convenient bc it design evaporate so I don’t have to refill often if I’m not using it. I have a handful of zippos and really only use one when I need to throw a lighter in my pocket and not worry about it. With the butane insert I can use the others more often. Zippo actually makes a rechargeable arc-light insert but I don’t know how that would be for pipes. They say that one is fully wind proof.

I've been trying to use my Zippo with my Peterson Pub Pipe...

The System reduces the force of suction. This means I need to draw a lot harder to get the flame down. The fact that the bowl on the Pub Pipe is deep doesn't help when I'm halfway down the bowl.

Can anyone relate?
